Exploring Life & Business with Christina Ledoux of Centered Wellness Acupuncture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Ledoux

Hi Christina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was in my early twenties, my mother-in-law-to-be at the time was an acupuncturist and suggested I try acupuncture for my debilitating menstrual cramps, which I had been suffering with since menarche and underlying chronic inflammation. After two years of convincing, in my last attempt to find a solution, I agreed in hesitation. Needles had always been my biggest fear. She kindly sympathized with me, walked me through the whole process, and assured me that we could stop at any time I felt uncomfortable. During the treatment, I couldn’t feel the needles at all. Instead, something strange happened to me that day. The best way I could put it would be that I felt this energy tickling my soul. Embarrassingly, I couldn’t stop laughing on the table. I had no idea what came over me, and after my treatment, I cried for two months straight. Something was released… and as I kept receiving treatments for the following year, my life completely changed. I started acupuncture for something physical, but later understood that my chronic illness and debilitating cramps stemmed from something much deeper. The trauma and unprocessed emotions that were stuck in my body were finally being released. Due to that, my soul had been stuck for years. I felt what normal felt like for the first time since childhood. Ever since my experience, I’ve wanted to share this deeply profound medicine.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think, generally, yes. I consider myself very capable when I’m passionate about an area in my life. “If there is a will, there is a way.” When I do feel stuck, I always remember that we always have a choice because life is limitless if we make it. We just have to look outside of societal norms sometimes. And I think that’s how I became an acupuncturist in the first place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Centered Wellness Acupuncture?
I opened Centered Wellness with the intention of a holistic framework. I wanted to offer a safe, heard, and an all-encompassing session for patients. I believe to heal is to know oneself and having a practitioner by your side can help navigate one’s internal and external stresses.

What sets me apart from other acupuncturists, particularly, is that I am gentle in my approach, especially in the beginning of our sessions. Needles are scary, and I know it! They used to be my biggest fear. Acupuncture needles are nothing like syringe needles, but they can still be scary. Many of my patients refer me to others who have never tried acupuncture but could benefit from treatments.

I am not limited to my specialties, but I have a deep interest and passion in mental health, trauma, and psycho-emotional pain. A few other areas that I love to work on are women’s health, cosmetic acupuncture, chronic illness, GI disorders, autoimmune disease, and pre- and post-op support.
