Exploring Life & Business with Christina Constable of Love Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Constable

Hi Christina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Love Yoga was born in Montauk, NY in 2010, founded by Sian Fujikawa and Jeff Schwarz. Fueled by their passion for yoga, breathwork, and the beach, they created a community haven for like-minded individuals. Their journey led them to the sunny shores of Venice Beach, where they opened Love Yoga Venice in 2015, bringing their vibrant vision to the West Coast.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a yoga studio is never as simple as it seems. People often overlook yoga as a business, but it is—and like every business, it has its ups and downs. Covid was, to put it mildly, quite the challenge. We stayed open with Zoom classes and sponsorships and were thankfully one of the few yoga studios to survive.

A few months back, we also had a bit of a roof issue, which turned into a ceiling collapse, which turned into the floors buckling. That little adventure caused us to be closed for nearly a month—a huge setback. But we’re grateful to have made it through!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Love Yoga is a vibrant yoga studio nestled in sunny Venice, Los Angeles, CA. Our talented teachers specialize in Vinyasa flow and Katonah yoga. While Katonah Yoga is primarily found in NYC, we bring this unique lineage to the West Coast. Katonah Yoga emphasizes body alignment through geometry, traditional Chinese medicine, and imaginative guidance. We encourage our teachers to integrate these techniques into their flow practices, along with plenty of hands-on adjustments. These adjustments help practitioners discover their true potential and set clear goals. At Love Yoga, we believe in thinking outside the box, allowing for creative sequencing that breaks away from traditional flow formulas.

In addition to our regular classes, we offer a diverse range of trainings and retreats. Our 200-hour Teacher Training Program is unique, as it doesn’t focus on just one lineage or style. We introduce students to a variety of yoga traditions, from Vinyasa to Hatha, Katonah to Ashtanga, and more. This approach allows beginners to explore different modalities and find what resonates best with them. Our YTT program also features inspiring and renowned teachers like Sara Ivanhoe, Josie Schweitzer, and Danielle Karuna, providing multiple perspectives on the subject matter. We are proud to be one of the few trainings in LA that emphasizes Katonah Yoga and hands-on adjustments, with over 30 hours dedicated to Katonah and 50 hours to adjustments.

Our retreats are one of the most exciting aspects of Love Yoga. We organize multiple retreats each year to breathtaking destinations such as Italy, Greece, Scotland, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Zion. These retreats foster a sense of community and adventure, allowing students to explore their inner selves and share their discoveries with new friends. By the end of each retreat, participants often feel like they’ve gained a new family and realize that many others share similar life experiences that led them to yoga.
