Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Maxwell
Celeste, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey in beauty over a decade ago as a makeup artist in the film and entertainment industry, where I fell in love with the transformative power of beauty. For the past five years, I’ve worked in salons, which gave me invaluable hands-on experience and insight into the beauty business. However, I noticed a recurring issue: many salons had an air of exclusivity or superiority, which didn’t align with how I wanted people to feel when receiving beauty services.
In October 2024, I started working on Haus of Venus to create a space where beauty is celebrated, not imposed—a studio rooted in warmth, inclusivity, and self-expression. My goal was to craft an environment where everyone feels welcomed, nurtured, and empowered to embrace their individuality. Every decision I’ve made for Haus of Venus reflects this mission, from the services we offer to the atmosphere we create. It’s been a deeply personal and rewarding journey, and I’m excited to continue sharing it with our community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely been windy, but so rewarding. I hadn’t planned to open my own business this year, but everything aligned in such a way that I felt I had no choice but to go for it. Thanks to my experience in salons and on set, I already had my vendors lined up for products, and my personal sense of style made the branding process feel natural. However, refining all the details, especially when it came to finances and logistics, was a huge learning curve.
Opening a beauty studio is a labor of love, and I quickly realized that all the money I make goes right back into the business. Marketing and decorating were more expensive than I anticipated, but I’m fortunate to have incredibly loyal clients who have been excited and supportive of this journey—they truly keep me going. I also love thrifting and shopping ethically, which helped me make it all work while staying on budget.
It’s been freeing to have my own space and to run a business my way, applying lessons from both the good and bad of my past employers. Every step has been a mix of challenges and rewards, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Haus of Venus?
Haus of Venus is a locally owned and independently operated beauty studio where perfectionism meets personalization. I specialize in brow and lash services, and I’m deeply passionate about working with clients to achieve results that are 1000% satisfying for both of us. Every service is a collaboration—I take the time to understand each client’s goals and customize their experience because no two people are alike.
What truly sets Haus of Venus apart is my approach. I don’t view my clients as income but as individuals seeking a space to practice self-love and self-expression. My appointment times are flexible because I focus on quality over speed, ensuring every client feels valued and leaves feeling nurtured and confident.
I’m especially proud of my branding because it’s a true reflection of who I am. Designed by my talented cousin Nicole (@nic.pnggg), it captures the love, good vibes, and authenticity that define Haus of Venus. I’ve created a space where people feel safe, celebrated, and pampered, and I’m honored to serve my community as a Latina woman passionate about beauty and empowerment.
My services go beyond just aesthetics—they’re about helping people embrace their individuality and feel seen, valued, and beautiful. That’s the heart of Haus of Venus.
