Today we’d like to introduce you to Brahim Rachiki.
Hi Brahim, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started acting when I was 12 years old and did a few little things back home in Belgium one day, I had a huge opportunity but my dad didn’t let me do it so I started dancing on the street and became obsessed with dancing. I started reading books … practice … and started doing shows and tours that took me visiting country like japan Russia … I created a Crew and we started to tour around the world sponsors by Levi’s … doing some fashion show … and one day I hurt my knee that stop everything and I start assisting directors, photographers and start to know more about directing and the work behind the camera. When I got better I started dancing again but it was really not the same … I wanted more, but again life strike me again due to a personal event I stopped everything and had burned out … then I prayed and asked God and answer the next day I had a free ticket to Los Angeles that’s changed my life forever … I arrive just for few weeks with a Dj friend of mine (Kharraz Khalile) we suppose to stay ten days but we missed our flight back we where broke so we had to improvise to make some money and travel back home so I did some extra background work and one day during a music video the director said dance … that’s what I did and boum she scream stop !! Pointing me she said you come over here and do the same … And booked me for two more music video as featured dancer … the two biggest talent agency wanted to signe me … and that was it … then david Lachapelle booked me for two commercial … danced few awards show for Chris brown, My agent asked me to submit for Madonna (sticky and sweet tour) And I choreographed for her the mythic song vogue on her tour , then Ed moore was working on discipline tour for Janet asked me to help him out i did unofficially … then Michael Jackson was doing this is it … and I was hired as second choreographer after he past away last show I did was bet award 2010 for Chris brow tribute to Michael Jackson , I choreographed after show in Europe and Middle East … did more work for the new generation of dancers in my country Morocco and Belgium then I came back to my first love acting … worked on different tv show and movie and when COVID stopped everything I wrote and directed a short movie I consider myself as an eternal student And love different type of art and learn from everyone.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Struggles of cause … a road without bump here and there, we learn nothing the struggles help me to adapt … step back and observe we see the works better from outside … I had to so many different jobs to get where I am and still, what we do it’s not an easy way … we have to be on point every time … nothing is sure … and that’s why I decide to do my own project.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
