Hi Ashima, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I spent over 20 years working in the IT industry. During this time, I witnessed firsthand the gender disparity in STEM fields, with few females represented. This experience ignited a passion in me to make a change. I wanted to create opportunities that would inspire and empower young girls to pursue interests in technology and coding. As a tech enthusiast and an advocate for education, I have always believed in the transformative power of coding. Both my daughters participated in the Code Ninjas program, and soon, I realized that in today’s time, the ability to understand and create with technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity. With this vision in mind, with the support of my husband, Vishal Goel, and my daughters by my side and firsthand experience of the curriculum, I decided to open two new Code Ninjas locations, Northridge and Los Angeles, each designed to be a hub of creativity and learning for children.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening these centers was not without its hurdles. Finding the perfect locations that were accessible and community-friendly took extensive research. Once secured, the construction process presented its own set of challenges. From navigating zoning laws and securing permits to coordinating with contractors and ensuring that the design met our high standards, every step required meticulous attention to detail. Delays and unexpected issues were common, but each obstacle strengthened my resolve to create the ideal learning environment for our ninjas. With construction underway, the next challenge was marketing our new locations. Building awareness and excitement within the community was crucial. We utilized a mix of digital marketing strategies, local events, and partnerships with schools and community centers. Social media campaigns showcased the fun and educational aspects of Code Ninjas, while open houses and trial classes gave parents and children a firsthand experience of our unique approach to learning. Word-of-mouth quickly spread, driven by the enthusiastic support of parents who recognized the value of coding education.

What’s next?
One of our main things is to help more kids get into science, technology, engineering, and math. We’re going to work with local schools and groups and have events and workshops to show how coding can be fun. We want every child to have access to coding and we will be working towards. Our teachers, the Code Senseis, are the reason we’re so successful. We’re investing in their ongoing professional development to make sure they stay up to date on the latest teaching methods and tech trends. This will help us keep providing the high-quality instruction that Code Ninjas is known for and take it to next level.
