Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Lowell
Hi Ariel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The funny thing is, sugaring found me! It quite literally fell into my lap during an appointment of my own, almost immediately after graduating from esthetician school. 10 years ago, I was finishing up a 4 year stint in LA where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre and was consistently performing my music and displaying my art all over LA. I was ready for a new journey which is where I discovered a path in esthetics. I was in love with the idea of working in a gorgeous and relaxing environment. At the time, facials were my thing, and I was known to put my client’s into a deep relaxing sleep during their services.
After graduating from the Academy of Beauty in Culver City, I followed my heart down to gorgeous San Diego. Within my first 2 weeks, I needed to get my sugaring done so I booked an appointment just 2 blocks from my house. During the appointment, conversation led to a free trade of training/learning and a job offer. Although it was a different opportunity than I was looking for, I said why not and decided to try it out.
I was taken under the wing of a small business, and began creating connections with like minded individuals in the treatment room. This side hustle slowly became something I very much enjoyed, and I stuck with this location for 4 1/2 years, consistently leveling up my craft and working seamlessly all while having what I like to consider “a hangout session” with my amazing clients!
Incredibly booked and busy, I realized how I could progress in my career if I was on my own. And that’s when Bloom Sugaring was born. I found a space that I loved and built my website overnight so I could instantly be up and running! Upon leaving, I had very low expectations, but little did I know this would soon be my full time hustle, the beginning of building my brand, and an experience that client’s of mine couldn’t live without!
Bloom Sugaring has been operating now for 5 years, and it is so much more than just an outlet for services. Bloom Sugaring is rewriting the story of hair removal, where services are transformed into experiences, by implementing intention, mindfulness, and empathy. Client’s receive so much more than a hair removal experience at their appointment at Bloom Sugaring. They are being recognized through human to human interaction within a safe, welcoming, and loving environment. To some, self care is like second nature, but to other’s it takes a lot to do something for ourselves. And I am here to celebrate those who have decided to put themselves first and level up their hair removal experience, and essentially, their lives.
In January of 2024, I decided to close Bloom Sugaring’s doors and surprisingly relocate back to LA. But it wasn’t that surprising, because moving meant closing the gap of a 2 1/2 year long distance relationship. So now, Bloom Sugaring has reopened it’s doors in gorgeous Santa Monica, and is rapidly rebuilding clientele as more and more people are made aware of the energy that Bloom Sugaring brings to the treatment room.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course there are always challenges that come with owning a business. For estheticians, I think the biggest challenge is being incredible at our craft in the space and treatment room, and wanting to live blissfully in that space, rather than have to document and sell ourselves online. But without the online platforms, gaining clientele becomes more difficult, as these platforms are what drives and sells business at a rapid rate! So one one my biggest challenges is to rewrite my relationship with these online platforms. Because realistically, it is a blessing to have them as they are an incredible avenue to be seen by not only those in my area, but around the world!
Another big struggle was letting go of the built success, connections, and roots I had made and planted in San Diego. These weren’t just my clients, they were my friends. And I saw most of them more than I saw my actual friends. We were on a monthly-must basis with one another, sharing deep conversation, stories, updates, and wisdom. Leaving my clients and successes in San Diego sent me into a very long mourning process, and what was even more uncomfortable was having to be the one to allow these emotions, all while ramping up my business in LA. The transition was difficult but it shows me that my heart is big and my dreams are bigger.

Bloom Sugaring is a boutique sugaring studio located in the heart of Santa Monica. Sugaring body hair removal is a natural alternative to wax, made of just sugar, water and lemon juice. I absolutely love that my career revolves around a simple, natural, and organic product that enhances my client’s lives. I specialize in full body hair removal, and holding positive energetic space for my clientele.

Running Bloom Sugaring has fulfilled my life in ways I never thought it would, it has built connections that bring so much joy, and it gives me an opportunity to deliver the message that client’s are deserving of everything they desire. Any big plans?
Wowww. I have such big plans. Having just left San Diego, a fully booked clientele, and the magnetic pull to opening a space, I am gearing up to create a space that delivers the ultimate experience. Whether you are in the treatment room or not, Bloom Sugaring is going to be a space that you enter and never want to leave. The focus will highlight igniting the divine feminine, and will dive into more of a creative light. My dream space will be able to host events, dance parties, tastings, get togethers, classes, workshops and meditations.
Really my biggest dream and goal is to create the environment that people froth over. The culture is magnetic and my employees love their job and work environment, and clients will want to arrive early just to hang out and enjoy.
And who knows… maybe even a name change as my soul continue to speak my dreams into reality?? I am open to the infinite possibilities that my future can bring and I hope to build an entire VIBE that is sure to be fallen in love with !
