Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Once upon a time, I embarked on a journey that would lead me to a career as a contractor, a path that diverged from the expectations of my family. Growing up, I spent my summers working alongside my uncle in the electrical field. The work fascinated me—the way a space could be transformed by the flick of a switch, the intricate dance of wires and circuits coming together to power a home or a business.
However, my father had different aspirations for me. He envisioned me as a doctor or a lawyer, professions that he deemed more prestigious. Despite his wishes, I found myself drawn to the world of construction. I enjoyed the hands-on nature of the work, the tangible results that came from building and creating with my own two hands.
After working for a few different companies, I began to notice a pattern. Customers were often dissatisfied with the quality of work and the level of customer service provided by these companies. They would express their frustration to me, praising my work ethic and attention to detail, often suggesting that I should start my own business.
It was my wife who finally pushed me to take that leap. She saw my passion for the work and believed in my ability to provide a better experience for customers. And so, with her support, I founded my own contracting business.
Starting out was tough. The construction industry is competitive, and it’s not uncommon to encounter companies that cut corners or take advantage of customers. I made it my mission to provide honest, high-quality work and to always put the customer first.
Over time, my reputation grew, and so did my business. I found fulfillment in knowing that I was not only building structures but also building trust with my customers. Despite the initial skepticism from my family, I had found my calling as a contractor, and I was proud to be the “bad guy” who was making a positive difference in the industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to becoming a contractor was far from smooth. It was filled with challenges, doubts, and uncertainties. However, with perseverance, hard work, and a dedication to excellence, I overcame these obstacles and forged my own path in the construction industry
