Exploring Life & Business with Angela Cisneros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Cisneros.

Hi Angela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I worked in a traditional jewelry store for 22.5 years. I started doing basic data input and simple sales while I went to Cal Poly SLO and eventually worked my way up to the Manager. When the owners decided to retire, I wanted to stay in the jewelry industry but I wanted to change it up! Over the years, I had found that people wanted to sit down and talk about their project without having a room full of people overhear what they were saying. So, I created San Luis Obispo County’s only by-appointment jewelry store, Angela Cisneros Jewelry Conciege! My goal is for men and women to feel comfortable sharing their stories and asking their questions. I want them to be able to choose a day and time that works with their schedule, and I want surprises to remain surprises! When you book your private appointment with me, we design the jewelry of your dreams. Sometimes, that is custom, and sometimes I can find it with one of my many connections in the industry.

As a Graduate Gemologist, I can answer many questions and guide my clients so that their jewelry is both beautiful and functional. I am not a bench jeweler, but I have trusted jewelry technicians that do the work. To me, jewelry is all about connection, connection to yourself, others, and the next generation. So connecting one-on-one with my clients is very special to me! One of the things that helped me when I first started on my own was the connections I have through the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce and the local chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), both of which I hold board positions. These organizations have given me encouragement when I needed it and tangible tools to grow my business. I have been in business for just over two years, and I am having fun, getting referrals, and experiencing growth!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I began my business in March 2020, so no, it has not been smooth! My biggest challenge was to let people know what I do and what I can do for them. Instagram and Facebook has been great platforms for me. I also joined Generating Business Referrals without Asking program by Stacey Brown Randall, and that has helped me develop a plan of connection that has helped me grow. Starting your own business can be toughest mentally, and I have grown strong in the last two years!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Angela Cisneros Jewelry Concierge is San Luis Obispo’s only by-appointment jewelry store! I specialize in jewelry restyling and engagement/wedding rings, as well as gifts. I find that meeting with clients one-on-one gives them room to relax and talk about what they really want. They also are free to make changes along the way too. I am proud that my clients tell me that this is the best way to shop for jewelry! Decision fatigue is a real thing, and I don’t overwhelm my clients with a billion choices, but I listen to what they want and then give them options. I mostly do custom design because people want different things in their jewelry, but I also have a wide variety of connections, so I can source something specific as well. Being a Graduate Gemologist, I am able to answer questions and explain things they don’t understand. And, of course, we laugh and have fun!
