Today we’d like to introduce you to Anette Sharvit.
Hi Anette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We started off as an interior designers and early on decided to get our contractors license, When we realized that contractors were constantly telling us that we couldn’t do the things we wanted to do and that “we needed to be realistic” we decided to pave our own path. We started small with bathroom remodels and small cosmetic renovations and now, 15 years later we are building houses from the ground up, doing major additions, and creating incredible backyards. Our business has grown over the years, we are now in licensed in two states and are working on projects bigger than we could have ever imagined. We learned that honesty, transparency and communication is the key to our success. We listen to our clients, we don’t design for us, we design for them. We feel that our clients are our design partners and it is our job to bring their dreams to life. Our entire business is word of mouth and client referrals, we think that speaks volume for who we are as people and for how we run our business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our business grew so fast through Covid and the years following and when you grow that fast its never a smooth road, you make mistakes along the way and you learn from those mistakes. Our business grew so fast that we had to play catch up, we hired more employees, put in policies and procedures to help us keep up. We needed new software, more designers, while continuing to service all of our clients in a way that everyone felt special and heard. Six years ago we had one junior designer and a part time admin person. Today we have offices in two states, California and Northwest Arkansas, we have three junior designers, two executive assistants, and office manager and an accounting department. We have approximately 12-16 jobsites at any given time all in various stages of design or construction and we have found a way to manage them all with a few bumps along the way. We are always learning and evolving and thinking of ways to continue to grow our company while staying true to who we are as individuals.
As you know, we’re big fans of Eskay Design Build. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Eskay Design Build is a full service interior design and build company, we offer white glove service to our clients. We manage the project from A-Z and take the stress out of what could be a very intense and emotional journey. We work on many different types projects, from small bathroom remodels to full home renovations and ground up builds. We also work on projects that don’t include construction and are strictly interior design and furnishings. We have clients that need their entire homes furnished, clients that want the back yard of their dreams or clients that want a new home starting from the architectural phase all the way through move in. We listen to our clients, our goal is for our clients to walk into their homes and feel that it is their dream come true, not ours. It is our job to bring our clients vision to life, we do not design design or build for us, we do it for our clients. Every one of our projects in unique and built with the clients needs and lifestyle in mind. In 2025 we had a full modern build in Studio CIty and ranch house in Arkansas, we love a challenge. We do not have one design style, we love that every one of our projects looks different, we never want someone to look at our portfolio and feel that every project looks the same. We take pride in the fact that our brand is based on collaboration and honest communication with our clients. We are most proud of the fact that all of our work is referral based, we have repeat clients and create lasting relationships, we think that speaks volumes for our company and for us as individuals.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Building trust with our clients, honesty and transparency is always the way to approach all of our projects. We have honest conversations with our clients, we don’t tell them what we think they want to hear, we tell them the truth. We manage expectations and have open dialogue even when it comes the the difficult conversations. We want our clients to feel comfortable and open with us so that ideas and opinions can be exchanged freely with no judgement or hesitation.
