Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Abdullah & Chloé Levray.
Hi Aliyah & Chloé, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We met over the phone during the pandemic through mutual friends. At first, “Chloé thought I was looking for a trainer” and “Aliyah thought I was looking for a marketing consultant.” Neither of us was right lol but we became fast friends, like sisters (think step-brothers when they say “did we just become friends”) ha… that’s us.
We also met during the pandemic, so at the time we started CONTINUA, we hadn’t actually met in-person. We met over the phone and then held meetings on Zoom for about 3-4 months. Fast-forward to where we are now, going on year two with a business we created during the pandemic.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not smooth at all ha. First word Pandemic. Second word Startup. The most difficult part of anything is starting. Regardless how much exposure we personally had to working in our respective fields, working at other companies and for Aliyah studying business in college–there truly is nothing like starting your own business. SO MANY unexpected surprise costs and challenges that came along even if we “over-prepared” lol, that just comes with the territory of entrepreneurship. We did beta tests of our services and for our products to see how they would be received and how people interacted with what we had to offer. It was a sigh of relief to be well received but also a struggle to constantly pivot and adapt our service due to the pandemic. Although we started by creating a dope in-person fitness pop-up experience, we’ve ultimately landed into the digital space that we call home– our podcast!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Continua?

Ooo, this is a great question!
Learning to communicate in a way that honors both our different perspectives, while knowing we have the same goal. What we’ve learned is that we are on the same page but our approach may be different. This requires creating a space for each of us to share our perspective. Then, we commit to finding a common-ground approach to achieve our shared vision.
