Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Carl Peyton.
Hi Adam Carl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, where I began performing in musical theater at the age of six. After school, I moved to Orlando to perform in the Festival of the Lion King show at Walt Disney World. I then spent five years in Japan, working in the entertainment department at Tokyo Disney Resort.
Upon returning to the states, I obtained a Cosmetology License from the Aveda Institute while also managing corporate events and private dinners at Norman’s, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton. In 2012, I relocated to Southern California and joined the team at Five Crowns and Sidedoor in Corona del Mar. As their Event Manager, I oversaw the planning and execution of over 400 weddings and events annually for five consecutive years.
In 2017, I proudly launched unoaked. Event Design and Production. unoaked. is now recognized throughout Southern California for creating sophisticated, seamless events, from weddings and mitzvahs to corporate galas and private celebrations. My diverse background in performing, fine dining, beauty and hospitality has provided me with the unique skill set necessary to build the successfully well rounded event planning company, unoaked. Events.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own business has certainly presented its challenges, but that’s what makes it so incredibly rewarding. When I was filing business documents, opening bank accounts and building my first website, I jokingly realized I should have started a business on how to start a business! There’s no clear blueprint for the step-by-step process of launching a wedding planning business. It was a stressful learning experience, but it ultimately made me stronger, more knowledgeable about every aspect of my business and a proud owner for having accomplished it myself.
Initially, generating event referrals relied heavily on word-of-mouth, so the first few years of weddings and Mitzvahs were slow but steady. Just as things were gaining momentum, COVID-19 completely halted my profession. I had to postpone, cancel or modify over 40 weddings, mitzvahs and galas during those challenging years. Beyond being an event planner, I became a therapist to many of my clients during that time. It was then that I truly learned the most about myself and how to balance work and life stress while continuing to meet my clients where they are and guide them to a successful celebration.
As you know, we’re big fans of unoaked. Event Design and Production. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Since founding unoaked. in 2017, I have had the honor of planning over 200 weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, Mitzvahs and nonprofit galas. I love executing different types of events with diverse clients. Every event I plan is diligently crafted to fit each family’s specific need, making every event one of a kind! I’m incredibly passionate about creating memorable experiences for my clients and guiding them through every step of the event planning process. My goal is to make each event unique, stress-free and fun, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully handled and expectations exceeded!
