Exploring Life & Business with Stewart Barrios of Allied Restoration

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stewart Barrios.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey started in El Monte, CA with a family of five in a one bedroom home. We grew up in poverty but had the opportunity to attend public school and stay out of trouble. During my younger days, I focused l in school and attended as many school organizations and philanthropy’s available. I was a Tri-athlete in high school and graduated in the top tier.

By doing so I received government grants and financial aid which allowed me to attend the University of California, Irvine where I received my B.A. in Criminology, Law and Society. After I graduated, I worked at a law firm in Irvine for a few months but found myself with little passion in what I was doing. After a few months, I was fortunate enough to run in OP Almaraz who happened to be looking for someone like myself to join his team. I took the leap of faith knowing I was venturing out of what I studied in college…I haven’t looked back since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think one of the biggest struggles I have faced in my professional career has been my young age. I started in the Restoration Industry at 22 and over the last four years, I earned the operations general manager position for the company. Along the way, I’ve had to present myself as a consultant for Allied Restoration and various insurance companies. When doing so, I’ve found myself going up against our direct competitors that were a couple of decades older and with much more experience. On the other side of the token, I then found myself leading a lot of my peers that also were much older and had years of experience over me. With the training and mentors I’ve had over the years, I’ve managed to maintain my persona and the respect of others. With that, I’ve continued to grow mentally and spiritually and now lead well over 40 employees.

We’ve been impressed with Allied Restoration, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Allied Restoration is a disaster restoration company that specializes in water, fire and mold remediation along with various other trades. We are most known for serving the private client group which primarily consists of the rich and famous. Over the years, we have invested in masterminds and training to fine tune the customer journey from the day we meet our clients to the day we hand them their homes back. We understand not only top quality construction but also the emotional experiences our clients go through during a disaster. In addition to the customer journey, we also pride ourselves as being a diverse company that is able to adapt and switch gears during what is considered the modern day recession. When covid-19 hit, we knew that we had to act fast or our business would suffer. Within months of the pandemic starting, we had experts flown into our facility to train our entire staff and create systems and procedures on how to clean and disinfect the virus. Now we are GBAC certified and one of the leading disinfecting companies in all of southern California servicing national food chains, hospitals, schools and much more. If you had to think of Allied Restoration, I would say we are the one stop shop for both your home and business.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would not be where I am without my family and mentors. My father, Ebys Barrios, who owns SSS Jewelry in DTLA definitely taught me my work ethic and the ability to be confident and talk to others. When it comes to business, OP Almaraz and Tim Bauer taught me everything there is to know about insurance restoration and how to run and manage a 15 million dollar company at such a young age. From there, the list is endless but my friends for 15+ years Marlon Marroqion and Vincent Lu are two which have seen my struggles and also my successes and have never left my side.
