Hi Zarina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Imagine growing up in the vibrant city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, where fashion wasn’t just something I wore—it was a language I spoke fluently. Nine years ago, I brought that language to the USA, a move that would forever shape my destiny in the fashion world.
From a young age, I was captivated by the transformative power of clothing. Back home, I channeled that passion into a degree in fashion design, but I didn’t stop there. Upon moving to the U.S., I earned a degree in fashion merchandising, expanding my understanding of fashion from creation to curation.
High school was my playground—a time when I loved to push boundaries and create looks that made people stop and stare. But even then, I didn’t foresee a career as a stylist. That epiphany hit me in the most unexpected way—while shopping for my younger sister. In just 15 minutes, I pulled together five distinct outfits that not only wowed my family but also ignited a spark in me. It was in that moment, seeing my mom’s astonishment, that I realized this was more than a hobby—it was my calling.
But the real credit for my journey goes to my mom. A single parent, she raised two daughters in a world that often values tradition over creativity. Yet, she encouraged us to chase our dreams, no matter how unconventional. Her unwavering support and belief in my potential allowed me to take risks, explore my creativity, and ultimately find my path in fashion. Without her, I wouldn’t be standing where I am today, living my dream.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe that being an entrepreneur is never a smooth road—it’s a journey paved with risks, lessons, and a relentless drive to keep moving forward. The challenges are real, and they test your resolve at every turn.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is finding clients, especially those who truly resonate with my vision. Sometimes, you meet people who just don’t click with you, and you have to find a way to work around that—it’s like a dance where you’re constantly adjusting your steps. Then there’s the balance between creating content to build your brand while also working a job that provides stable income. It’s a tough juggle, especially when you add personal life into the mix.
But despite all these challenges, the key is to never give up. It’s about perseverance, understanding that life isn’t always about what you have, but rather how you navigate the obstacles life throws your way to achieve what you want. The road may be rough, but each bump is a stepping stone to success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I offer fashion styling services designed to help clients create the perfect look for any situation. Whether someone is looking to refresh their personal style to attract new love and confidence or a professional aiming to dress for success, I’m here to guide them through that transformation. I also work with people whose lives have changed significantly, and they find their current wardrobe no longer suits them. I believe that how we present ourselves is incredibly powerful—it shapes the energy we attract and influences how we move through life.
In addition to personal styling, I also specialize in commercial styling. This involves collaborating with brands to create cohesive and compelling visual stories that resonate with their audience. Whether it’s for a marketing campaign, a commercial shoot, or any other project, I enjoy the challenge of aligning a brand’s vision with a strong, stylish identity.
One of my favorite areas of work is photoshoot styling. It’s where I get to fully explore my creativity, putting together timeless looks that clients can cherish for years. I’m known for my ability to style photoshoots, build wardrobes, and provide expert advice on how to elevate and refine one’s style.
What sets me apart? For starters, I’m bilingual, fluent in both English and Russian, which allows me to connect with a broader range of clients. I’m also not your typical “skinny” stylist—I understand the challenges of dressing when you don’t fit into conventional fashion standards. I know how important it is to feel confident in your own skin, and I believe that the right outfit can be a powerful tool for boosting that confidence, no matter your body type.
Finally, I have a knack for seeing the unique beauty in others and helping them enhance it in a way that feels authentic. My goal is to make my clients feel like the best version of themselves, introducing just the right amount of change to make a real impact without stepping too far outside their comfort zone.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m in the midst of planning something pretty major, but I’ve got to keep it under wraps for now. Let’s just say it’s going to be a game-changer, and I’m bursting with excitement to see it all come together. While I can’t spill the details just yet, trust me—what’s coming next is going to be worth the wait.
