Hi Yasmin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Recife, Brasil and moved to the US at a young age. For as long as I can remember, I have had a deep understanding how your surroundings can have an effect on how you feel. I became obsessed with curating aesthetics and experiences in every aspect of my life. When attending college, I remember a local magazine capturing the essence of our college town so perfectly. The idea that a few photos and a strategic execution could capture a feeling became inspiring to me. This became the first step of my career in Social Media Marketing. I followed every open door that could lead me to where I am today. JSY Agency has allowed me the opportunity to work with some of the most influential brands and creatives of our time. I am extremely proud that in the last seven years, I have been able to perfect how to curate a feeling for a brand to their audience.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road! With anything that you’re passionate about, many tears are shed. When you go over budget and it underperforms. When you are benchmarking your client’s competitors month over month and they are not satisfied. When that influencer contract is showing complications. When the content isn’t up to par. When that person you hired isn’t the best team fit. There are many roadblocks and struggles along the way, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I loved every bit of it.

As the Head of Social Media for JSY Agency, I am known for my expertise in the social media marketing space. I specialize in all platforms and am absolutely proud of the fact that I still consider myself a student in my field. Social media is constantly evolving so I understand it can be hard for many people to under the value of what I do. What sets me apart is my knowledge. If you are a decision maker in your company and you are looking to understand what a Head of Social Media does, here are three bite-size nuggets of what I do:
1.) Manage Initiatives
when mapping a social media campaign my role is to define what your strategic initiatives are at all levels on all platforms. I map, strategize, organize, and track.
2.) Performance Management
I have a wealth of knowledge on many performance management softwares. How to improves your KPIs, strategy maps, scorecards, briefing books, and many data-driven analytical reports. I have an understanding of paid media vs organic SEO, along with other marketing strategies. The data drives the creative.
3.) Align A Team
Leading multiple teams is my favorite part of my job. Allowing employees to see and understand their roles is key. Whether it’s a paid media manager, a production team, or even an influencer. Effective communication and collaboration will equal success.
I meet many other social media directors and leaders In this field and I am always inspired of how passionate we all seem to be about what we do.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Every weekend my entire family would go to my grandfather’s soccer club in Brasil called “Jet”. I watched him and my dad play matches, I played in the pool with my cousins, we would barbecue, and I would run around with the other kids. I love these memories a ton.
