Daily Inspiration: Meet Yaretd Alcantara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yaretd Alcantara.

Hi Yaretd, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The victory to continue with the Deferred Action for Children’s Arrivals (DACA) program

From the United States Court of Appeals in California under the Obama administration means that more young men and women with hope can achieve a better future for their families.

Hello, my name is Yaretd Alcantara, CEO and founder of Glamour Studio Enterprises. I will love to share my story of how I managed to make my entrepreneurial dreams come true.
“Life in Mexico was very bleak with little hope for any kind of future (that) I wanted for
myself.
At the age of 14, I move to Los Angeles to join my mother. Over time I find myself in the sad reality that many of us see each other, and it is to suspend my studies to help my family.
in 2012 I received my DACA, and my life took an unexpected turn. And it is here then, where I always say, “the gates opened and the sky became the limit. “I thought I could achieve literally anything. It was really a Point of my life, which I really think helped me get to where I am today.”
Thinking back as a frightened 14 year old girl, in a new country, not knowing the language, the uncertainty of my future, of how I would live . and now sharing my history with you Is the most amazing feeling ever, its a recognition of the gift to be given to a person like me, to be given the opportunity to make something of myself and do something meaningful in my life for myself and for others, achieve goals and dreams and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
After being a freelance make-up artist, my career branched int a different direction when i was able to get my estheticians license and took up residence in Camarillo. After gaining enough experience and confidence, I felt I could start my own business.
In 2017 | felt it was the right moment, to take my life savings and opened Glamour Studio. After so much work, struggle, saving everything possible, I took a chance on doing something | truly love . And a few months and many sleepless nights later, one of my biggest dreams has come true. I would just like to say that the Camarillo community has welcomed me with kindness and warmth and has been so supportive and helpful as I took this big step in my life. At the time that l opened my own business, I was still working as as supervisor at a fast food restaurant in Nov. 2017, I resigned my position in the fast food industry, so I could give my full attention to building my business in Camarillo. Since Glamour Studio opened its doors in 2018, I have the pleasure to met my amazing client’s.

Now in 2024 and as we move into 2025, I am so proud and excited to have created my own cosmetics line. Glamour Studio Cosmetics which is the next phase of Glamour studio is now here and Im so excited and energized to be bringing this forward. Sometimes it’s hard for me to grasp all that has happened in my life. I participated in Latinos in Business, Women’s Empowerment Expos, and the Chamber of Commerce itself, I just cant believe it at times. Engaging in the community, whether its the people you work with, building relationships with your clients, meeting and supporting different business owners and organizations which are worthy of mutual support, is the best feeling in the world. Working together to build a better place for all of us.

“When people have dreams, set goals, and try to get there by doing their best and working hard to achieve those dreams, sometimes things don’t go as planned . . . Don’t get discouraged and never give up. Stay positive and keep fighting for what you believe you can achieve, day by day, step by step.”

As an aspiring entrepreneur, the biggest challenge I personally faced was finance, I worked for many years and saved every penny I could to achieve one of my dreams. It takes me a long time to achieve it but I am constant, those days of getting up early and arriving late from work I know they were worth it. I try to keep up with my education to improve my job to meet the diversity of client expectations ranging from skin treatment, new hair color to completing makeup looks for bridal parties. Today, as my own boss, I enjoy the freedom to establish my own work schedule, services and prices.

I can only think of from where I came from, how long and hard and yes, worthwhile the road was to get here. It really is true, and I hope that that my story will help people realize, that with hard work, dedication and a strong will anything is possible and they too can live the American dream.

“It is very necessary to understand the importance of programs like DACA, which… really allowed me to realize the future I always wanted for myself and for those around me.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I opened my beauty salon I received many hate comments about myself for being Latina.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have 15 years of experience in the beauty industry, I am an aesthetician and cosmetology my passion is to show how beautiful my clients are. Teaching them how to use the products for their hair and skin. I think that when you are surrounded by the right people you can grow more.
