Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Horn.
Hi Travis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The power of understanding a person in today’s society has become an art of research. Far too often we as creatures of habit tend to move forward with our first impression of a person. This leads me into the topic of having a proper story developed about you. In this article of writing, I will give you an example of I who has recently gained great attention worldwide. Many of you know me as theBalanceGuru, where to all my close friends I am Travis E. Horn. In as this is a brief nomination I will harp on only a couple of key elements that have shaped his core beliefs from my point of view. At around age 2 was taken from his family and lived with foster parents for almost three years before my dad maintained eligibility to gain custody of us. This was and still is very emotionally taxing on decision-making and trusting people even over two centuries later. I come from a family that was caught in the system of Las Vegas.
Growing up on HUD Housing and Food stamps can and will ignite a work ethic of wanting more out of life. Growing up he always focused on being the fastest and analyzing mistakes from others to focus on what he needed to build his self from the ground up. Around in my teenage years, I was a tennis champion as well as elite in multiple areas of sports. However, as a teenager or child coming from a family with no money, it definitely affects the direction in terms of having the money to be on actual teams. I remember making the High school Football team and the pads were to big So going to one of the worse schools in Las Vegas they could not fund pads. My dad then became the dream killer that he didn’t want to be due to not being able to afford them at that time he did not move forward with that path.
After high school, I followed my brother’s footsteps into the Marines and then I lost communication for almost the entire four years we both served. He was either deployed or I was. This is where I started to notice his strive for something bigger. Many know me as a laid-back, balanced minimalist. I have definitely mastered the art of no excuses. After an uneasy divorce and moving back to Las Vegas, I was determined to put all of his energy into teaching and building his son’s dreams. after months after my divorce and being disconnected from the civilian life my brother hit me with the idea to take out his frustrations and pain of being alone out in the gym. Three years into my training, I had a horrible Jet Ski accident that consisted of a flight for life bill of 39,000 and a broken femur their went my chance at American Ninja warrior. You would think that pain medications and Breaking one of the hardest bones in your body would stop him NOPE! From that moment I sold his self in a hospital bed that he just like many of us is alone in this life and needs to focus on how he can contribute while maintaining happiness. After losing everything, I locked into walking 2 miles to and from the gym every day for three years straight becoming completely obsessed in becoming stronger and more focused than ever.
Many of us will go our whole lives chasing stardom or being noticed for our contributions. The most committed individuals are defeated every day and tap out when they don’t get the recognition they deserve. This was not the case with Travis Horn. With hundreds of videos and thousands of hours later it happened he was noticed and then became sickened with the negativity of the planet’s assumptions of him just trying to gain attention. Yes, attention is a key step in selling yourself however The Balance Guru is committed to pushing the limits and being a DOER. With the negative emotions of the world and staying in control of his time he took the initiative to implement Accountability in his life. While he is still chasing each technique and goal, he has become a great single parent and takes the time to golive and impact people daily. The biggest takeaway from this is we should all do the research and look at the work being put in before we decide to be DREAM CRUSHERS. I’m a marine I’m 30 I’m from Las Vegas I have been doing my gym stuff for about nine years now I’m untrained and never had a coach in fully dedicated to the art of movement but I have been limited inside gyms due to being a full-time dad and not having much money to buy it use the equipment. I am this era Bruce Lee my mind is clear and I am shapeless to my moves and craft. The difference between me and others when doing this is such: they will try the move and might even stick it but their mind is not in a creative mood to try something else or continue being epic.
So I have realized that I am special and I do have a gift once the world sees then I will have the world as my playground I’m a massage therapist that loves eastern modality energy work and to ask anything else 😀 I’m a marine, I’m 27, I’m from Las Vegas I have been doing my gym stuff for about four years now I’m untrained and never had a coach in fully dedicated to the art of movement but I have been limited inside gyms due to being a full-time dad and not having much money to buy it use the equipment. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Foster care No mom I was born in Las Vegas and was taken to Louisiana at a young age from ages 3 to 6 years old I was in the Foster care system in Louisiana. My dad got me back 1st out of my two siblings and then we moved to Las Vegas never seen my mom again. I recently connected with my mom back on Facebook a couple of years back and our relationship still kind of rocky as in the trust is just not all there yet.
Abusive dad After we moved to Las Vegas my dad became an alcoholic he used to be a boxer and just having three children living off of welfare and not having a car it just was really tough on my dad and he did the best he could. But the alcohol did not help the cause of him being abusive.
No education support Not having a mom growing up in school, the science fairs and all the projects and teacher-parent meetings all without. So let’s just say I’m straight smart a lot more than I’m book smart. To the point where I wrote 8 of my own books on health and Wellness.
I got married at 18 years old in July and then I joined the Marine Corps in November all in 2007. I have a son named Jordan Horn which is my rock he’s absolutely an amazing son and amazing athlete from that marriage. I divorced when I was 22 years old and became a single dad, pretty much going to college while being a dad and creating what now the world uses daily as the guru method.
Child support really hurt me this entire time seeing that I’ve been in my son’s life as much as I physically possibly can. It just doesn’t help when you need to get a house through a car and it just looks like you already have one because you’re paying a system. So all the single fathers out there stay strong stay tough and your kid will get old enough 1 day to respect and understand how much you have to strive just to be there in is life with all the doors and people against you.
Broken bones, I’ve broken several bones. I had to take the flight for life which was $39000. I broke my female getting hit by a jet ski in Orlando. I broke my right arm two weeks after my 1st world record and then I just flew to Milan to break that world record with my broken arm. I have a knee replacement from getting injured and Iraq and left severe Ptsd.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It came out of know where when the social media craze just began as an artist, is was searching for a way to show off what I had inside. My original name was vegas_balanceguru! I changed it to be more of a worldwide name! The guru method is a household name several years later from the pistol squat in the CrossFit games to the average person using items to be fit! I teach proprioception, fulcrum, kinetic chain, and atmospheric pressure which applies to all humans and all matter on earth! The sleep manual is my humanitarian baby being the first only one ever and it has solved scoliosis, sciatica and many more chronic patterns due to improper postures under atmospheric pressure. • You have a multitude of accolades and achievements as The Balance Guru, which are you most proud of? I have consumed it during all my world records, all my national TV shows, training every pro athlete while writing my seven books and I will be high accepting the remainder of every award! My most powerful cannabis story goes like this. I’m traveling to Rome to set and break the Guinness Book of World Record for “highest handstand on a self-built tower” Little did I know a gentleman at the coliseum would gift me my very first hash joint hours before the show(see picture) so I was the HIGHEST HIGHEST FARTHEST from home ever for this record! Which I said I have to pee at the top (I was so high). Full video on my YouTube.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
No luck; all education and the understanding of who I am and what I am here to deliver to others. I don’t believe in luck; I believe that we’re all here for a very specific reason and my reason is for humanitarian I’m a messenger. I discovered and solved scoliosis and sciatica. I have the only sleep manual in the entire world. All that came from me getting injured and me not crumbling and striving to be successful as a therapist. I believe hard work beats luck all day. I’ve never won any carnival game or anything that I had to do with being lucky.
