Daily Inspiration: Meet Tiago Carlotto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiago Carlotto. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Tiago Carlotto is a Brazilian artist, singer/songwriter and actor, was born in south Brasil in a small town name Esteio. Italian family descendent, and Brazilian native as well, Tiago start sing in choirs in an evangelical and Catholic Church at age five, also in gospel groups from the local community. Leaving south Brasil, state of Rio Grande do Sul at early age to work in modeling and study photography and acting in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, also worked as producer and assistant of popular a Brazilian singer; then in 2014, in his early 20’s Tiago moved to San Diego to learn English and study music, that was a dream he had from since early age, and then moving to Los Angeles 3 months later after finding out that LA was located in California (haha true fact I had no idea but I think because I never stop myself to think “where’s Los Angeles was located”, and even more that Hollywood was part of LA, so it was literally a surprise to me end up here, whatever lol). Transitioning from Portuguese to English, gospel to Latin pop in the end of 2017 when was able to finally write songs in English. In 2018 Tiago sign a distribution deal with Sony for two projects and since then, it’s been over 17 single releases, 15 through Altafonte, Tiago had the opportunity to work with Bobby Berk from Queer Eye on two tracks, “Tiago – Everybody with Bobby Berk” ” was mentioned a few times by Billboard Music Magazine, as now Tiago, Bobby and Anselmo Ralph (Portugal The Voice Judge) are collaborating in a new upcoming track already recorded, its a promising bland of culture, American, Brazilian and African references in on track, we’re excited for it. And also, a new collaboration with Lord Afrixana knowing for his latest featuring on Black is King – Beyonce’s latest album/movie.

Tiago also just finished shooting a tv show / a comedy pilot where he is a cast member, directed and produced by Melissa Wylie and Cole Rucker, Knowing for productions as American Horror Story and You’re the worst.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that the first challenge I faced was the language, I had no English, I couldn’t understand a single thing, so I got gigs as dish washer, delivery, cook prep, even “vegan Cheff” at an organic cafe in Hollywood so I could learn some English and also make some money to pay for bills. (The cheff job was a surprise, I first was admitted and then I found out the position, haha).

I also was working with these people that promised me my visa and my paperwork, I worked for them for months and I found out later that nothing of that was real and I had turn into an illegal alien in the us. That was another journey of my life…But now I am a resident waiting for the citizen test, good news.

After probably two years, I was very disappointed at things and for not being able to learn English, I was about to give up and try to move to a country with Latin language, or Spanish, Italian, French, or Portuguese my native language, well I also never though that I would act in America due to my accent and it was exactly what has open so many doors and giving me so many opportunities here in America. One day I woke up and everything started to click like magic.

Another challenge… “for sure if you resist to jump into the culture of the place you’re living, it can be harder and painful sometimes, but I learned to dive into opportunities, learned to America and specially California, also appreciate much more my own country that even with all troubles is such a blessed and beautiful country, with beautiful and diverse people, culture… not different from America, from Mexico, or any another country, the beauty is in being unique I truly. Believe!

I think along the way there will be so many challenges to face so we can get where we dream about being. The journey can scare us, maybe we don’t even know how things will turn out tomorrow, but if we lead our mind to believe that our success is already here, happening, somehow we will manifest what for us sound and looks so impossible.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer and songwriter, actor and a visual creative person. I’m maybe knowing for a song with Bobby Berk from Queer Eye, or for performing Latin pop music around the city of Los Angeles in venues as Bootsy and bellows, The Globe Theater in DTLA, Breaking Sound LA, etc.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I believe that we get nowhere alone, I have so many people I’m working with me for so long, some that are newer, but Casey Sullivan is my music producer here in Los Angeles, we work together for so long and I couldn’t make it alone without a great connection between me and him, I feel that in studio we need be so open to listen to one another and to find that connection is just a gift. I also have been working with Rony Padilha for so long, he is in music for way before I was born and he is just great in representing me and we also are now business partners, together with Tiago Araujo and David Guimaraes, my business partners in PNL Rec, a recording label and artist development group between friends with the intention of change the game for the artist, for the producers, for the label and to be profitable for everybody, I believe so much has happened and will happen, and nothing more fair that we all work and collaborate together and we succeed and profit together.
