Daily Inspiration: Meet Teresa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teresa.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was always really interested in fashion and dressed up every day without needing an occasion. I fell in love with street-style photography and started a fashion blog in high school with my friend. We’d meet up in the mornings and take outfit photos then go to class in my little Toyota Camry.

I bought myself my first DSRL on the day of my high school prom so I could take photos of my friends, and then it was stolen from my college dorm room and I could t afford another one for a long time! I started modeling then for other photographers so I could still participate in those spaces. Since then, I’ve never looked back, working every job on a set from lighting to coordinating to modeling to retouching… And yes, I was eventually able to replace the stolen camera and started a collection of film ones soon thereafter!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, with how the job market is set up creatives have to learn so many different skill sets. I always tell my friends they need to think of themselves as small business owners, as entrepreneurs. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past. Not standing up for my vision, accepting a less than fair wage, or overexerting myself to “pay my dues.” The business side of this industry is underrated.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve worked lots of roles, from pre to post-production. Right now I’m focusing on learning animation, 3D modeling and AR/VR to bring my skillset into the future. Moving images has become increasingly important, and although I think photos will always need a human touch, I’ve become so interested in continuing to learn!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Right now, I’m focusing on acting, which I haven’t even mentioned until now! So funny. I have an agency that reps me, State Management, and the best way to support me would be to book me for modeling and commercial acting roles. My socials are @padre.teresa and I’m doing more fun stuff with video, like food blogging.
