Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Owen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Owen.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Los Angeles to pursue engineering and music in general. I only had enough money for one month’s rent and no job lined up. I managed to get a job the first week I was here and still work at the same job to this day. Now I have a lot of clients with a handful of them making moves in the industry and some diamonds in the rough as well. Along with engineering, I’ve also started writing and recording my own songs and currently working on an album with one of my clients, StaJe.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it’s been a rough road, being poor, not knowing where the next paycheck will come from or when. But working hard really pays off.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an audio engineer, vocal producer, and songwriter. I mainly do engineering for my clients, but depending on the artist I’m working with sometimes I need to write for them, sometimes I need to come up with different melodies or harmonies for them, it all depends. I’ve come up with my name, TailorMade Productions not on my own but because of my clients. After finishing a song, they said the song was “TailorMade”. And it just stuck. I’m not even really sure what makes my sound different or why, but I’m proud I can make the artist’s sound tailored to what they want for their music. I’m currently working with FAM Ent. on building our own studio complex and I’m still excited about our billboard plaque. It’s crazy.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Work ethic. 100%. If you don’t work for it or want to, you just won’t get it.
