Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Jaye.
Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a 23-year-old model and hairstylist based in Los Angeles. I moved here at 19 with nothing but a dream of becoming a model, but the reality of LA quickly humbled me. I hit rock bottom, which pushed me to find another way to survive and still express my creativity. That’s when I decided to go to cosmetology school.
Doing hair started as a necessity but became one of my greatest passions. It not only gave me financial stability but also reignited my creative spark. I discovered how much I love making others feel beautiful, and in turn, it built up my own confidence. As someone who’s naturally introverted and used to struggle with self-esteem, working with clients has helped me grow tremendously—both personally and professionally.
Over time, I started doing hair on set, which opened doors for me to step back into modeling—this time with more experience, confidence, and a stronger sense of self. Today, I’ve been modeling full-time for about a year and a half and doing hair for nearly three years. Living in LA hasn’t always been easy, but stepping out on faith and starting my business allowed me to thrive in both industries I love.
Now, I get to do what I’m passionate about—helping people look and feel amazing, while continuing to pursue my dreams in front of the camera.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I first moved to LA, it was far from a smooth road. I struggled financially, barely keeping my head above water, and often questioned if I had made the right choice. I didn’t have a clear sense of direction, and the weight of trying to make it in a city like this brought on so much self-doubt and anxiety.
On top of that, I went through a traumatic breakup which ultimately rewired something in my brain. As painful as it was, that moment became a turning point. Instead of letting it defeat me, I channeled that pain into my work. I started searching for purpose, and slowly, I found it — through doing hair, connecting with people, and eventually finding my way back to modeling.
Those struggles forced me to grow, to face myself, and to build a stronger foundation. They taught me resilience and reminded me that even when everything feels uncertain, I can create my own path.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I consider myself both an artist and a creative because my work allows me to transform people inside and out. I love that my work allows me to merge artistry with connection.
As a model, I get to express myself in front of the camera, bringing creative visions to life and working with brands and photographers to tell stories visually. Modeling has been a dream since I was a teenager, and after years of working on my craft and my confidence, I’m proud to be doing it full-time.
What sets me apart is the way I approach both industries. My background in psychology fuels my passion for understanding people — their emotions, their stories, and what makes them feel confident and empowered. Whether I’m styling someone’s hair or modeling for a brand, my goal is always to create an experience that leaves an impact.
I’m most proud of the fact that I turned struggles into stepping stones — taking what once felt like setbacks and building a life and career that allows me to thrive creatively, financially, and personally.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Honestly, I’m far from perfect, and I’m still figuring things out every single day. But if you’re thinking about moving to LA or chasing a big dream and you’re scared — do it anyway. I know how it feels to question yourself, to wonder if you’re ready or if you’ll even make it. I had those same thoughts when I first got here.
The truth is, you’ll never feel fully ready. Growth happens in those scary, uncomfortable moments when you take a leap of faith. There will be struggles, self-doubt, and days where you want to pack it up and go home — but those are the moments that shape you and push you to become stronger than you thought you could be.
My advice? Take it one step at a time. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Stay consistent, stay true to yourself, and surround yourself with people who pour into you. Even when it feels like nothing is happening, those small steps are moving you forward.
You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. I didn’t — and I still don’t — but I’m living a life I used to only dream about, and that all started with me just saying, “I’m going for it.”
