Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Holder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Holder.

Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts. I am African-American,Indian, Liberian and Cape Verdean .I have been Singing, Acting, and Dancing since I was six years old. I started singing and dancing when I was in church. I always felt free, but I discovered my passion for acting when I started middle school and then I just never stopped after that.

As a child, I would always love to make people laugh. Entertaining people in school in different plays, I just loved how I could always get that same feeling as I felt as a child. When I moved to Los Angeles, California for college, I knew I wanted to pursue acting, and I found an amazing school called Theatre Of Arts Hollywood! Where I feel like I flourished and found different things that I need to know about myself with the help of my amazing teachers that helped me grow in tremendous ways. I recently graduated from the two-year program. I have been working, creating content, and auditioning. I am an actor, singer, and dancer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been challenges, definitely not a smooth road. Moving to a whole different state by yourself without family is a big change. I had to evolve. In no way it’s scary, but without taking risks or chances, you’re just stuck in a stagnant place. When I started school, I felt like I had a family. I have met some amazing people and great friends and just meeting different people from all walks of life is such a great community when you can be a creative artist and come together with other amazing artists to make magic.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud of my demo reel. The reason why I am proud of it is that I put so much hard work into it from beginning to end I’ve always wanted to create something that I could see myself as a young African-American woman that hasn’t been done before. I’ve always dreamed about being an assassin or a spy, I just always loved action movies, so when I got the chance to create something that I really could resonate, bring to life, and do something that hasn’t been shown often. That’s what I wanted to do with this project. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I feel that I’m very unique and different. Which I thought as a younger kid was always a bad thing or something to be shameful about. I want to break apart barriers so that the young beautiful girls that look like me know that they have a chance.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love best about the city is the weather. Beautiful beaches, I love warm places where I don’t have to worry about freezing to death, I also love the creativity and diversity here. What I like least about the city is the horrible traffic.
