Daily Inspiration: Meet Stacy Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Gonzalez.

Hi Stacy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a makeup artist has been rewarding. I come from a low-income Hispanic family in Long Beach., I never thought I would be where I am today. Growing up, I was never into school, I got terrible grades in every class but ART one thing I knew was I loved art class. When I turned 19, I attended Michael Vincent academy where I met my mentor Nikki Parisi. I started to intern for her and a couple of other well-known makeup artists in the industry. Hard work, consistency, discipline, and positivity is how I got to where I am today. I woke up with a mission everyday to be better and learn more. Anyone can do it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the things I struggled with in the beginning was not getting paid. I did a lot of free work just to get my name out. At times it would become very stressful, and I would start to feel hopeless. No matter what I saw a vision for myself and kept going. A lot of people think things happen overnight. They see the reward but don’t see the sleepless nights.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a celebrity makeup artist and hairstylist. I’m mostly known for working on all of the hottest music video sets. I’m always extremely busy because I provide both hair and makeup services. When it comes to hair, I do everything from styling, slicked ponytail looks, and braids. As far as makeup, I can do natural, colorful, and special effects. What I’m most proud of was my ability to not be stuck in a box by only doing makeup. I kept learning and I think that’s something everyone should do. No matter how good you are… always try to educate yourself about your industry.

How do you define success?
Success to me is true happiness, achieving goals, and generational wealth.
