Daily Inspiration: Meet Sophie Shelh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Shelh.

Hi Sophie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From a young age, I’ve always dreamed of becoming an artist. In my early 20s, I took a bold step and moved to the United States alone, without knowing anyone, to pursue my passion. I initially moved to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design. After graduating, I secured an internship in Los Angeles within the entertainment industry, which opened the door to an exciting career path.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with renowned organisations such as DreamWorks, NBC, Fox Sports, and Apple. My roles have included production graphic artist and art director, allowing me to be involved in some of the most significant sporting events, including two Super Bowls and two FIFA Men’s World Cups.
One of the highlights of my career was the opportunity to oversee, create and develop design concepts that blended American and Arabic cultures for the Qatar FIFA World Cup coverage with Fox Sports. This project was recognised with multiple Emmy Awards in 2023.
Throughout my journey, I faced and overcame challenges in the entertainment industry, constantly striving to prove myself and push creative boundaries. My experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of cultural storytelling through art.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t an easy journey to establish myself in the sports industry, especially as a young immigrant woman striving to prove her talent in a highly competitive environment. Despite the challenges, I remained motivated and refused to give up. I continued to believe in myself and in the possibility that anything could happen with perseverance and determination.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was creative, and very passionate about art and storytelling. I was always exploring new ways to express myself, whether through drawing, writing, or imagining new ideas. I remember being deeply inspired by cultural stories and visuals, which later influenced my decision to pursue a career in design and media.
I was also quite determined and ambitious, often setting goals for myself and working hard to achieve them.
