Today we’d like to introduce you to Sohail.
Sohail, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey in Mumbai, driven by a deep interest in creativity, culture, and self-expression. Over time, I was drawn to both fashion and music—not just as industries, but as powerful tools to tell stories and create connection. That belief led me to start my clothing brand, Reside In Being, built around self-worth, authenticity, and being comfortable in your own skin. What began as a passion project evolved through hands-on learning, creative experimentation, and real-world challenges.
As things grew, meditation and inner work became a big part of my life. It helped me stay grounded, clear-minded, and more intentional—especially while navigating uncertainty, pressure, and creative blocks. That practice deeply influences how I create, how I make decisions, and the values behind the brand.
Alongside this, I’ve started my own vlog channel where I document my journey, creative process, and everyday life as an entrepreneur. It’s a space where I’m able to tell my story honestly and share the behind-the-scenes of what I’m building.
Wanting to scale with structure and clarity, I moved to Los Angeles and am currently studying business management and entrepreneurship at UCLA Extension. I’m now heading back to India to launch the brand on a much larger, global scale, with plans to do pop-ups across the world and eventually open stores in key international cities.
Today, everything I’ve learned—creatively, personally, and academically—is coming together. I’m focused on building with purpose, intention, and a long-term vision that goes beyond just products, and into impact.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—it hasn’t been a smooth road, and it still isn’t. I face struggles and hurdles on a daily basis, whether it’s creative blocks, business challenges, or personal doubts. The journey is constantly evolving, and with every new phase comes a new set of obstacles to navigate.
What’s changed over time is how I respond to those challenges. I’ve learned to sit with discomfort, adapt, and keep moving forward instead of seeing difficulties as failures. Meditation, self-discipline, and reflection have helped me build resilience and clarity during uncertain moments.
I genuinely see myself as a forever work in progress. There’s always more to learn, unlearn, and improve—both as a person and as a creator. That mindset keeps me grounded, curious, and open to growth, and it’s what allows me to continue showing up every day despite the hurdles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work at the intersection of fashion, music, and storytelling, using creativity as a way to build connection and meaning. My primary focus is my clothing brand, Reside In Being, a premium lifestyle and leisurewear label rooted in self-worth, authenticity, and conscious living. I specialize in creating conversation-driven pieces—clothing that’s not just worn, but felt—combining elevated design, thoughtful messaging, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Alongside fashion, I’m also an artist and musician, and both worlds constantly inform each other. Music shapes the emotion behind my designs, while fashion gives my music a visual identity. I also create content through my vlog, where I document my journey, creative process, and the realities of building something from the ground up. Storytelling is a big part of what I do—whether it’s through garments, songs, or visual content.
What I’m most proud of is building everything with intention. From starting independently to now thinking globally, I’ve stayed true to my values rather than chasing trends or shortcuts. I’m proud of creating a brand and body of work that encourages confidence, self-expression, and inner growth.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend inner work with outer creation. I bring mindfulness, self-awareness, and purpose into everything I build, while still having a strong business and execution mindset. I don’t see creativity as just aesthetic—I see it as a responsibility to create impact. I’m still evolving, but that willingness to grow, stay authentic, and build consciously is what truly defines my work.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, the fashion and creative industries will shift toward a more purpose-driven, transparent, and community-focused future, where the intention behind content matters as much as the product itself. Audiences are becoming more conscious and can easily sense when content is forced, performative, or purely sales-driven. Brands that put out thoughtful, honest, and value-led content will build deeper trust and loyalty than ever before. Technology will continue to evolve the way stories are told, but the brands that truly win will be the ones using these tools with clarity and integrity. As fashion, music, and culture continue to merge, intentional storytelling will become the strongest differentiator—turning brands into movements rather than just labels.
That’s exactly why I’ve been dabbling in this space now. Even if it may seem a little late, I felt it was important to truly understand it from the inside—to learn how it works, get comfortable with the process, and experience it firsthand. Going through that learning phase has helped me sharpen my perspective and maximize my business awareness, so I’m able to approach content and storytelling with much more intention and clarity rather than just treating it as a marketing tool.
