Daily Inspiration: Meet Sheila Nazarian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheila Nazarian.

Hi Sheila, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My family escaped Iran and came to the US as refugees when I was seven years old. Despite not even speaking English, I have spent my life challenging myself and working hard every day to get to where I am today. I attended medical school, business school, had three children during my surgical residency, and find myself in Beverly Hills as an Emmy nominated plastic surgeon on Netflix.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Losing my mom to breast cancer when I was 16 was the biggest challenge. Once you have been through something like that, everything else seems small in comparison. Haters. Trolls. Nay-sayers. I ignore them all with grace.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a plastic surgeon, TV personality, activist, mom, wife and entrepreneur. All of these aspects bring me joy and keep me constantly learning and growing.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My parents have played the largest role in my success. I was teased as a child and never really felt like I fit in. My parents were the ones who were giving me honest and positive reinforcement. They saw my potential and didn’t make me feel like anything was standing in my way.
