Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Scharfe.
Hi ron, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an abstract artist working with acrylic paint on canvas. After graduating from College, I taught Art and then moved on to being an Entrepreneur with various businesses. Pretty much all along the way, I was creating art with a real emphasis on searching for my “style”. Where was my niche’? I felt I zeroed in on my style and niche’ about ten years ago. It’s all about the color and how color interacts with each other. I am extremely passionate about color. I really “see” color before I see or react to anything else……in a person, in nature, in a building, in fashion….in everything. I love being an entrepreneur and I love color. I paint my paintings to bring happiness to the client and the reward of selling a piece is for myself the reward….along with the passion I feel for the canvas and what happens on that canvas when I’m painting.
To date, the rest is all about marketing myself, being in galleries and getting my work out there. EXPOSURE!!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since I started painting “full time” I have to say I’ve been very fortunate. My work started selling after about three years. The struggle is (as I said earlier) getting more exposure. There are a lot of artists out there, but, I feel I have such a unique style that when people are acquainted with my work it tends to win them over. I have so many ideas in my head for future paintings…The challenge is not to get stale and tired of your own work. I don’t ever see that happening. I’m always inspired and look forward to what the canvas presents to me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am creative/business/ artist
I’m an artist and business person. I prefer to concentrate on the artist side of me, but having the desire to create art and sell it is what really matters to me. I love the reward of having collectors purchase my work. It goes hand in hand for me…create/sell/create/sell…..and so on. I’m not all caught up in my head with just creating…the reward of selling is important to me. I specialize in acrylic pouring of paint…..I’m most proud of the “style” of layers of painting that is my niche”.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I wish I had a crystal ball to tell me where the industry is going. I just know that things constantly change. I also know that people love looking at “color” and things that visually please them. ART is a constant in some people’s lives… therefore, we create.
