Daily Inspiration: Meet Red Spade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Red Spade.

Hi Red, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making music young. Recording it and performing it. I always had an interest in making sounds that when listened to individually means nothing but when put together by recording or by a band makes something completely different. I’ve reached a lot of people through my music and made a lot of connections that I continue to grow to this day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothings ever easy, between finding myself as an artist and dealing with what life throws at you sometimes you have to take a step back and think. A good friend of mine, Tre passed away while I was in college. He’s someone I’ll never forget. Dealing with that along with the ups and downs of life in general takes its toll but I still walk around hoping I can make somebody else’s day with my music or just by being who I genuinely am.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist/creative. I rap but I feel like that title puts me in a box. The way I’ve been incorporating other things into my style to push myself makes me more than that in my opinion. I specialize in songwriting outside of my genre and in it. I’m known for being lyrical and for staying true to my brand which represents individualism. I’m most proud of my brand and what it stands for but even more than that, I’m definitely proud of myself for how far I’ve come and envisioned myself. What sets me apart from others is that I’m me, and there’s not another me on this planet.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My ability to keep my composure in a room full of people and talk to others without pretending to be something else has gotten me far. A lot of people get around certain people and completely change who they are. That’s not me. Everyone gets the same energy from me and I feel like that makes them click with me easier.
