Daily Inspiration: Meet Quinn Hardy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinn Hardy.

Hi Quinn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was always a fan of content creators growing up: Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, MatPat, and more. I watched them at home, at school, when I ate, when I was bored, and when I felt alone. Their communities were a safe haven if I felt ever felt lonely or was being bullied. I wanted to create a community like that for others, based on the things that I enjoyed whether that be movies, video games, photography, clothing, etc… When the pandemic hit, I was stuck in my room in college. I didn’t have a reason to go out anywhere or see anybody, so I made content out of boredom. Eventually, it clicked with an audience, and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My main struggle has been self-inflicted criticism. I’m never content with the things that I’ve done. There is always something else to do or something to work on. I am not a fan of sitting still, I want to be busy all the time. I don’t think this is necessarily an unhealthy mindset (I could be wrong), but you have to learn to appreciate what you’ve done and pat your own back on occasion. I’ve been learning to live in my achievements a little, but it is an ongoing internal battle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a social media content creator with a following of over 5.2 million on TikTok and 180k on Instagram. I create any and all content, fashion videos, GRWM, dancing, acting, and sometimes insulting the viewer (in a funny way, I’m not a complete monster).

More than anything, I am proud of the audience that I have. The people that I’ve had the opportunity to meet have been incredible. I never really felt like I fit in growing up, so having people who enjoy the same things I do come to me both in-person and online is something I cherish. What I’ve done has always been about the people. It can be easy to forget for some, but there is a person behind every number, every like every share, and every follow. I couldn’t be where I am without them, and I try to remind them of my appreciation as often as possible.

To be honest, I don’t think much separates me from others doing what I do. A lot of creators make similar videos, I just share the stuff that I love and let the people that enjoy the same things come. There is a quote from philosopher Alan Watts that I reflect on when I think about the content that I make, “anything you can be interested in, you will find others who are”.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Good networking does not feel like networking. A lot of people see networking as a transactional relationship. It’s a give-and-take. To an extent, that is true, but I think it’s better to be friends with someone; don’t count on getting something out of a relationship, and don’t let that be the reason it starts.
