Daily Inspiration: Meet Priscilla Faye

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Faye.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was definitely the child that got stressed out when ‘career day’ at school came around because I never knew what I wanted to be. There was always a pressure to pick just one thing, but I knew very early I couldn’t be put in a box. In high school, I loved fashion and was constantly doing my own little photoshoots for Instagram. Over time, and with the help of the pandemic and people being glued to their phones, my social media following got larger and I realized modeling and styling was something I could do professionally. I started to go back and forth from my hometown in the Central Valley to LA every weekend. That’s 6 hours of driving a week, just off the strength of my love for the big city. It gave me hope that there is something bigger. I used every resource and dollar it took to get back and forth every week. I networked my way into major studio sessions, events, and even a podcast at one point. I rediscovered my passion for music about two years into living in LA.

I was doing a lot of modeling work independently, as well as music videos 24/7. I was surrounded by people in the industry and did some A&R work connecting artists that I knew. I curated playlists that got hundreds of thousands of downloads and I spent countless hours in studio sessions and fell in love with it more as I was watching projects get made from scratch. I decided to teach myself how to produce, started creating beat packs and built an in-home studio to fully submerge myself in my craft. I styled multiple music videos & shoots this past year which led me to create my own clothing brand ‘Friends in High Places’ which I am super excited to release at the end of 2023 featuring streetwear pieces and easy-to-layer loungewear. The name is inspired by the belief of a higher power/protection and divine guidance. In my journey, I was guided and protected by my friends in high places and I wish to remind others that they have the same …

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think that creatives often find that the road less traveled is not a smooth one, as there is no blueprint to follow. Not having any example of what to do can be discouraging because it seems unattainable. I found myself questioning if my efforts were getting me anywhere which led me to comparing myself to my peers. I struggled with this and wondered if I should have gone a more ‘stable’ route by continuing schooling. I learned that I can create my own reality and pushed past the self-doubt. I invested my time into myself and my own brand and I would say that focusing on your own journey and not getting caught up in the details is the best way to maintain this lifestyle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a music producer, model and stylist. I turn my thoughts into reality in the studio and in front of the camera. I specialize in curating aesthectics and bringing them to life. My attention to detail is really what makes everything I do unique. I am most proud of my upcoming clothing brand, ‘Friends in High Places’ dropping later this year.

What matters most to you?
Staying true to myself and living in my truth. The closer you are to yourself, and the more you remember who you truly are the more you are at peace. I believe that my purpose is to experience as much as possible while reconnecting with myself every step of the way.
