Daily Inspiration: Meet Perri Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Perri Jordan.

Perri Jordan

Hi Perri, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had graduated with my master’s in 2019, but then Covid hit the plan was to go to law school, but with everything going on, I decided to take a break. Fast forward to 2022, my New Year’s resolution was to get into law school by fall. As I was studying for my LSAT, the process was not fulfilling. I spent thousands of dollars on study material and courses because I thought that’s what I wanted. One day I was on set to do this pilot for a game show, and everyone thought I was a model. I’ve been told I should model my whole life, but I just didn’t think it was something for me. When I got home for days, I kept thinking about it, so I randomly signed up for The Model Experience in June 2022 and got approved. I was so happy, my first show was on October 8, 2022. Two months after I was signed with my former mother’s agency and two months after that, I had my first big beauty shoot with Colour Pop. Today one year later, I have been in over 20 fashion shows and walked for more than 40 designers, and have done multiple fashion brand and beauty shoots. Through all the yes’s and no’s along this journey I still have felt the most fulfilled in this process than studying to go to law school even though law is still my passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth journey at all. There was plenty of times I questioned myself, plenty of times I wanted to give up and go back to my original plan. School has always been my thing and something I’m good at; modeling pushed me passed my comfort zone. Modeling pulled me closer to my faith as well. Knowing and believing that God is the reason for a lot of the doors that open for me so soon is what keeps me going because I know that I wouldn’t be this far along so early on in my career if it wasn’t for him. I struggled with confidence, my weight, and belonging. I am in rooms with models who have been doing this their whole life and it got to my confidence. I’ve been chosen over models for opportunities who to me, I felt deserved it more than me. God quickly got that negative self-talk together.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a new model. I specialize in runway and beauty content. I am most proud of my resilience. I turned a simple thought one day to many opportunities that led me to rooms and in front of people I never would have come across if I didn’t have that small faith in myself one year later. I believe what sets me apart is I show up to every opportunity wanting to walk away learning something that will make me better for the next opportunity, whether that be a new runway turn, a new pose, or a connection. I make sure I talk to most people in the rooms I am in because you never know who knows who in LA.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was very sheltered growing up. I was always a shy kid, very introverted. Acting was my passion in high school but I never wanted to be an actor. Law has always been something that interests me. I used to go and sit in on court cases with my mom for my birthday; that’s how much it interested me. I wouldn’t watch cartoons; I would watch Law and Order or any judge show with my mom. Becoming a lawyer was something I knew I wanted to do since middle school.
