Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul David.
Hi Paul, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi thanks for having me! I’m Paul, I’m a photographer from New Orleans. I moved out here to Los Angeles with my brother in 2017. I got into photography a little over 3 years ago with encouragement from my younger brother Steven. I started out only comfortable enough to shoot him or drive around the city and look for scenery to shoot. It wasn’t until mid-2021 that I started reaching out to shoot more people. Without my brother there as my early encouragement and early model, I doubt I would have felt confident enough to branch out to shoot other people. Around mid-2021 is when I started shooting film photos too. Since then, I have fallen in love with shooting much more. I look forward to meeting new people to shoot as well as shooting the people and friends I’ve made since starting the journey of shooting more people.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a pretty smooth road to be honest. The only obstacle is juggling shoots with my main job which is investing. I always have my brother and his wife encouraging me and giving me inspiration shoots and art directions so that’s really nice.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in fashion, editorial, ad campaigns, portrait, and headshot photography. I’d say I’m known for my nostalgic film vibe photography the most and I’d also say that is what sets me apart from a lot of other photographers. I’m also most proud of learning all the technical side of photography and building a small network of models and agents I’m now close within a relatively short time!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Los Angeles is the huge amount of creative people and brands out here. There are so many people and brands to shoot for out here!
The thing I like the least about Los Angeles is definitely the traffic but its ok.
