Daily Inspiration: Meet Pasqualé Domain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pasqualé Domain.

Hi Pasqualé, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Darius Washington, but I also answer to my creative title “Pasqualé Domain”; the name was given to me by my late grandmother on my father’s side. Although I wasn’t able to question her on the origin of this nickname “Pasqualé” I still hold it quite dear to my heart and plan to brand the name as well as myself as a whole. I am originally from a small town in Louisiana named Marksville, where I got started writing back in grade school in reference to music. As the first passion of mine, this thrusted me further into my creative journey, where I would unlock a love for modeling and acting as well. Following high school I went to college at LSUA for Nursing and also joined the military. After completing basic training for the armed forces, I was given a glimpse of the city life having being able to travel around the state following graduation; the solidified that I would return here to Georgia and pursue my true passion one day. Following a good bit of semesters invested into my college career and failed attempts at being accepted into clinicals, it became more apparent that it was time for me to choose passion over “fixed obligation”. Being told that you are intelligent and that you should join this career field based on your intellectual stature clouded my judgment when it came down to my true happiness because it conflicted with my overwhelming urges to remain s people pleaser.

Following leaving college, I threw myself fully into my second craft of choice, which was modeling. I began my journey with Louisiana Creates, participating in one of their open calls for models, photographers, and videographers. From that experience, I’ve worked with multiple photographers from Lafayette to Baton Rouge, shooting and even walking in a fashion shows from New Orleans to Atlanta, Georgia. Currently residing in Decatur, Georgia I’ve been published in a hand full of magazines including Moevir, Roid X, and GMARO to name a few; as a model I believe that this craft is the precursor to acting. Entering my second full year of living in Georgia, I’ve been able to establish a résumé of reels that highlights my background and extra work. This year is the year that I plan to focus again on what labeled me as a creative from the beginning; artistically music and writing fuels me to do all other aspects that bring me joy. My modeling, writing of music, and acting roles as a whole are the introductions to what I plan to bring to the industry amid business ventures and philanthropy work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been adventurous getting to know myself on a more creative level, so the struggles I had to overcome involving my craft consisted of conquering self-doubt, developing a more concrete and structured level of patience, and overall breaking the hindrance of procrastination.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I model, write music, rap, and have now thrown myself into acting since leaving my home state of Louisiana. My specialty would have to be my writing abilities, from grade school composing any form of literature was exhilarating to me because it was also a form of self-expression. Modeling is yet another form of self-expression in which I do so through the message in the art itself. As far as acting roles go, I’ve always loved the idea of film work, but I firmly believe that modeling is the precursor to acting so they go hand in hand in my book. I am mostly known for my first two passions of writing and posing. Concerning what brings me the most joy and what my pride holds dear is ultimately the music; I’ve placed it to the back burner temporarily to focus more on those new endeavors. What sets me apart from other creatives is my ability to touch bases with each passion keeping them alive and well, being persistent in progressing my talents, my charisma, and my overall drive that will ultimately take me where it is I deserve to be.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
From the crisis, I was able to become closer with loved ones, from family to friends; although all the interaction abruptly turned virtual, it helped show the value of those who come first in our lives. The quarantine scenarios also gave me a “sink or swim” kind of attitude in the sense of either progressing in as many ways as possible while on lockdown or falling completely off track with my creativity due to it.
