Daily Inspiration: Meet O.J. Pipkin

Today we’d like to introduce you to O.J. Pipkin

Hi O.J., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My introduction to the film industry began in 2020. I started working as 1st AC for my cousin (DP) on some short films. In 2022 I worked on my first feature film as 1st AC. I have worked on 8 feature films total. I am also at Part 107 licensed drone operator.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a rollercoaster ride the whole journey. It was a struggle to eat and pay rent when I moved out to California in 2017.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Camera Operator, 1st AC, Licensed Drone Operator. I work on feature films, short films, music videos, commercials, documentaries.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my freedom. I want to be able to do what I want with my life.
