Daily Inspiration: Meet Nia-Imani Scriven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nia-Imani Scriven.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in New York City. I started modeling when I was 1 1/2 years old. As a model, I’ve been on billboards, catalogs, Magazine covers, Doll Boxes, etc. I started dancing when. I started two years old because my family had a dance studio at that time and my mom was a dance teacher. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an entertainer. I use to watch Janet Jackson’s velvet rope tour and get my props and outfit together and use to do the choreography to get lonely. I went to Professional Performing Arts school from 6 grade all the way to 12th grade where I studied dance at Alvin Ailey. I also took open classes at Broadway Dance Center. It wasn’t until I went to my first Beyoncé concert in 8th grade when I knew I wanted to pursue dance as a career and move to LA. As a child, I’ve danced in the Disney movie Enchanted, I’ve danced for the NY Knicks, and I’ve danced for Mariah Carey. I graduated high school and a year later, I moved to LA to pursue my dreams. I’ve been very blessed to have booked the jobs that I did out here in LA. I’ve been in LA for five years now. I’m now focused on becoming an actress. I’m also a YouTuber Officially Nia-Imani and a business owner. My business is called LuxeByNiaImani and I currently sell lashes but I will be dropping clothes in the Summer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There definitely were obstacles. I think my main obstacle was myself because I’m very hard on myself and the second main obstacle was my first LA agents. They weren’t a great fit for me. But now, I am blessed with great agents who understand me and pushes me for jobs that fit me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for being a dancer to some people and I’m known as a Micro Influencer/YouTuber to others. I am all of the above. I’m a Professional Dancer who also dances for the NBA, who also is a micro Influencer/ YouTuber. I’m most proud of the fact that I made lemonade out of the lemons that were thrown at me throughout my life. What sets me apart from others is that I’m multitalented so I’m always working on new things.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If people would like to work or collaborate with me, they can email me at [email protected]. If people would love to support me, they can follow me on my new Instagram account @OfficiallyNiaImani and subscribe to my YouTube channel Officially Nia-Imani.
