Daily Inspiration: Meet Nautica Sityar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nautica Sityar.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Yes, of course! Well, I guess it all started back in high school. I was always interested in content creation and growing a page revolving around my interests—fashion, beauty, food, lifestyle, etc. However, I think when I was younger, I was more timid and worried about what other people at school would think. I would try to start pages, but as soon as people I knew would find me, I would delete the account as soon as I started. I gave up on the dream for a while, thinking that putting myself out there and “trying” would be too embarrassing.

However, during the summer going into my third year of college, I ended up going viral for a post I made at a concert. This was odd and a little stressful for me just because I wasn’t looking for a following at that point, and it was mainly men coming to my page, which I did not love because there were a lot of creepy messages… HA!

Either way, some time passed, I graduated, and I was in this place in life where I was tired of letting how other people perceive me stop me from going out there and achieving my dreams. I kept thinking about how life is so short—why should I live in a way that concerns the opinions of people I barely know? I felt like that was just too sad and a little pathetic, to be honest.

I went through phases where I would try to record content and then chicken out and never do anything. Finally, I think something just clicked one day. I ended up winning free Coachella tickets, so I made a vlog about that, and ever since then, I’ve continued to make content.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say there have been crazy challenges, but I do think there have been some struggles. Most of it had to do with personal obstacles, like getting over my fear of being perceived or the potential that people were thinking I was embarrassing or “cringe.”

I think there was also a comparative aspect, where I would see peers doing well and having their content take off. I would wonder why the same wasn’t happening for me, and I would question if it ever would. I put in the work to research and study algorithms, and even when I felt secure in that manner, sometimes, everything felt like a game of luck. It was difficult to work hard at something when it seemed like things just weren’t going anywhere. It almost felt hopeless.

I also did not have steady employment at the time, so stressing about money and wanting to buy things to improve my content, but not being able to afford them, also became a struggle.

I still face some of these challenges now, but I think my mentality and experience have grown a lot over the past year, and I’m in a better place.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, I am a content creator, and I mainly focus on creating beauty, lifestyle, and fashion content on Instagram (@naut_i). However, I do post things on my TikTok here and there (@naut_ii). I mainly just enjoy creating videos and posts about what I enjoy, whether that be makeup trends, funny or relatable jokes, finding fun things to do in LA, new restaurants, outfit ideas, music festivals, etc. I like showcasing everything I love!

I am most proud of myself for actually putting in the work to create what I want and for overcoming the challenges associated with what other people think of me. That was a hard personal challenge, but I feel so proud that I went out there and did it. Now, I get to experience wonderful things, meet new people, and work with brands I’ve loved for years!

I think what sets me apart from others is my personal taste and aesthetic. I believe everyone is unique and different in their own way, and that’s part of what I love about content creation. You can basically make everything you create a vision—one that suits what you find beautiful. I personally do subscribe to astrological beliefs, and I am a Taurus, so it is a stereotype of sorts that we love beautiful things. I just love being able to curate everything to my eye and liking.

I am also professionally working within the events and marketing field, and I’ve gained great experience through roles that involve event coordination, project management, influencer partnerships, and social media strategy. I love being able to combine my passion for creativity with my work, especially when it comes to managing PR campaigns, planning large-scale events, and boosting brand visibility. I’m excited to continue growing and am actively looking to contribute my skills to a company.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I feel like I was a pretty shy kid. I went to a small private Catholic school from 1st to 8th grade, so I basically knew the same people my whole life and didn’t need to try to make new friends until I went to a public high school. That’s when I did a whole 180 and trained myself to present as extroverted since I knew I wouldn’t have friends if I didn’t try.

Besides that, I grew up in the early 2000s era, watching shows like Zoey 101, Winx Club, Bratz, Hannah Montana, etc. I really feel like these shows shaped my interests because I’ve always been a very “girly” girl, if that makes sense. I loved makeup, clothes, and anything that was pretty. I think little me would look up to the woman I have become today. Haha.
