Daily Inspiration: Meet Natalie Tate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Tate.

Hi Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
What makes YIFG special is how it came about. What started as a pointless IG account to disguise a food obsession has matured into a growing brand. What sets YIFG apart is the brand’s effortless appeal, realness, and unpredictable delivery. From this, YIFG has become a trusted opinion when it comes to restaurant reviews or anything food-related.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey didn’t start with goals in place so it gave me room for mistakes without consequences. My first time experiencing a setback was during the first wave of COVID-19 in March 2020. My brand was undergoing a rebrand so I was excited to launch my new merchandise. This time around I chose to dropship instead of handling shipping myself, which immediately backfired. Companies were short-staffed, and processing times began to increase. I felt terrible and it put me in a space I never wanted to return. A year later today, my struggles look differently. The cost and appear as unpreparedness and/or not being in tune with my creative side.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a food blogger that owns, Your Inner Fat Girl, a food brand that engages community through food, beverage and apparel while inspiring millennials to explore every taste their palette brings to the table. I’m known for my honest food reviews and infamous t-shirt that reads “Fat Girls Taste Better”. I’m most proud of staying true to my lane and not letting defeat win over me. What sets me apart is my authenticity and maneuvering a field that’s never been mastered before.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
If one is in need of motivation to start a business or beginner resources, I recommend FOUNDRs YouTube series. If you’re feeling lost because you haven’t found your passion, I suggest the Alchemist and/or Michelle Obama’s book Becoming… If you’re a blogger/influencer, the following apps will upgrade your content: tremendously: VSCO, Priime, Canva, and Over. Side Hustle is a podcast to hear start-up stories from business owners. Then there’s my Alter annual planner and Google doc drive that keeps me on schedule & focused on priorities.
