Daily Inspiration: Meet Mimi Amaral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimi Amaral.

Hi Mimi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As far back as I can remember, I’ve felt a deep connection with fellow humans, which sparked a passion within me to advocate and help others. For example: My parent’s told me of an experience when I was age six in which I would not eat until my father fed two homeless humans who were sitting near our trailer while we were camping. At that point I did not realize I would later be implementing this passion to advocate for myself.

From birth, I have faced and walked through adverse circumstances that led me to a diagnosis of death at age fifteen and a prognosis that I would never live past the age of twenty. I did not succumb to the belief set forth by doctors and at nineteen and a half chose to change my outcome even if it meant, “To live to live, or live to die.” In addition, as I matured, childhood wounds presented themselves and I chose to face, feel, integrate, heal, and change them to move toward a healthier self. I believe self-actualization is a continual process for me, and I will continue to challenge myself to evolve until my last breath. If anyone would like to listen to my early life journey they may find two podcasts on my website: https://mimipsy-d.com/

My own journey further sparked the aspiration to empower others, which led me to opportunities to share my experiences and acquired knowledge. I have tried my best to accomplish this by writing four books, promoting the books on the radio, speaking on podcasts, speaking for RAINN and Verity, writing and directing a video for Vagina Monologues, and writing many articles to advocate, bring awareness, help uplift others, and support special causes. In addition, I have developed a website with the aspiration to empower others: https://mimipsy-d.com/. The website has many resources as well as links to my books, podcasts, radio interviews, testimonies, and much more.

My current aspiration is to find a way to get each book turned into docu-series for one of the media services and programming production platforms [i.e. Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, etc.]. Getting the books turned into docu-series would be a dream come true because more humans could be reached and empowered. The soul aspiration for me to write these books was helping others, bring light to topics that seem to be taboo, witness those who may be feeling unseen, and help provide tools and knowledge to those who may want to empower their life’s journey. In addition, I aspire to be a TEDx speaker so to help empower others through this media forum as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No one is immune to life’s bumps, challenges, or lessons, and no one can walk our path for us. Understanding that it is no one’s responsibility to help, love, enlighten, or become unhealthy with us to create change for us is important. Nor is it anyone else’s duty to make us grow. It is each individual’s choice to remain as is or walk through the fear and embrace one’s truth and healthy self; and no one need be judged for the choice they make.

I believe Identifying thoughts, behaviors, humans, and environments that are unhealthy for us, which prevent us from personal growth is not comfortable or easy. However, it is exactly what needs to be done in order to find our own ‘truth’ and embrace ‘healthy self’. As I have evolved and matured, I have come to understand that we have to want a healthy journey for ourselves and put the work in to manifest the aspirations of our own life.

The aspiration is to “Not” allow the struggles to make us jaded rather allow them to help us identify healthy vs unhealthy. To empower us to learn, grow, change, let go, and move away from the unhealthy to move toward our “truth” and healthy self. Moving away from humans and environments that are unhealthy for us is okay and beneficial.

I also believe we are all born with the tools and guidance within us for our own journey. Yet, through conditioning and projected parental, ancestral, cultural, and societal fears we are taught not to “hear” the innate inner guidance.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Human, no better or worse than any other … Just trying to honor the existence I’ve been given and empower all I can while I still have breath of life.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Life is a co-created experience so I would need to first thank all who have come into my life from the stranger on the street who smiled and said hello to the most intimate life experience, which would be the ones closest to my heart. Every single encounter has empowered me in one way or another, helped me see from a different perspective, make a new memory, and build who I have become and still want to be.

Personally, I would show gratitude to those I call family, the dearest of friends, and the few men that I have been intimately involved with who I am blessed to still call friends …

Professionally, there have been a few I am able to call upon for insight and to ask where my blind spots may be, and for that I am truly appreciative.

Spiritually, much gratitude to Cosmic Alignment and Divine guidance always.

Note: I have chosen not to divulge names because I did not ask permission to do so, and I want to honor and respect those who may want to remain anonymous.
