Daily Inspiration: Meet Mila Troncoso

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mila Troncoso

Hi Mila, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Journey into Acting

Born in Chile and raised in Singapore from the age of 11, my path to acting has been anything but conventional. Initially, I pursued Graphic Design, only to be quickly thrown into the business world. Along the way, I became a certified personal trainer, yoga instructor, and even worked with a team that won the Guinness World Record in 2015 for the largest 3D mural.

Acting, however, was the biggest leap of faith. Starting later in my career was intimidating, but I couldn’t ignore my passion. Breaking into Singapore’s tight-knit industry required relentless perseverance. The journey was tough but rewarding, spanning theatre, TV, film, commercials, and immersive productions.

I’ve had the privilege to work with great actors, directors and the most amazing teams. However, as we all know its extremely tough being established in this industry. These experiences, combined with witnessing talented friends give up due to industry barriers, inspired me to create “GoodTake”. The software platform bridges gaps between talents and productions, offering tools like workshops, discounted headshots, and streamlined global talent management.

GoodTake is my way of making the acting world more accessible, ensuring talents get discovered and productions find the right people. My goal is simple: to help others take their leap of faith, just like I did.

Alongside growing my company, I am deeply committed to nurturing my craft as an actress. Acting is my first love, and I dream of taking on projects that delve into profound stories, shedding light on life’s toughest struggles. Through these roles, I want to remind people that hope exists, even in the darkest moments. No matter where you come from or what you’ve endured, you have the power to rise above and shine. Our past may shape us, but it doesn’t define how brightly we can illuminate the future and those around us.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing up between Chile and Singapore, I was constantly moving, feeling unanchored, and struggling with the sense of being lost. Sadly in pursuit for ‘a better life’ I lost the connection with my extended family. I don’t have traditions or … I don’t even know what else families do haha. But now I do have my Wife and she’s my family now.

As a woman, I’ve faced personal battles, including the all-too-common realities of assault and abuse—issues that are heartbreakingly normalized. These struggles shaped me and deepened my resolve to create art that inspires resilience and offers hope.

Breaking into the acting world wasn’t easy. The lack of guidance and systemic challenges were overwhelming. I wished someone had extended a helping hand when I was starting out. But it didn’t happen. I don’t want others to feel so lost and alone, so nowadays if anyone reaches out to me for help I am more than happy to help in any way i can.

Crazy fact: Across Asia, many actors face exploitative practices, with agencies taking up to 40% of their hard-earned pay. Watching talents endure grueling hours while barely making a living is heartbreaking. That’s why I created GoodTake—not to fight the system but to improve it, partnering with agencies that advocate for fair pay, respect, and better opportunities for talents.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A Little More About Me

I am a Swiss-Chilean actress currently based in Singapore. I initially studied sports medicine with a focus on post-rehabilitation. My mom will be undergoing hip replacement surgery in January, so I’ll be in Singapore next year to help with her rehab before returning to Los Angeles. After that, I’ll officially be based in LA most of the time.

I’ve had the privilege of being the lead actress in award-winning web series like *Living with an Expat* and short films such as *Kiss from a Rose* and *Lorna, Atlas & Me*, earning “Best Actress” awards at various film festivals. I also had the honor of working with Siew Hua Yeo on the feature film *Stranger Eyes*, which garnered two wins and nine nominations, including a Golden Lion nomination at the Venice Film Festival. I learned ice skating in just a few weeks for this role, which was quite fun!

Over the past year, I’ve trained in stunts, which has been incredibly exciting. I earned my wings in wire work and am one step closer to one of my dreams of playing a supernatural creature—fingers crossed for a role that lets me explore this further.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First of all I owe it to my younger self, for fighting through it all and staying alive long enough to reach this chapter. Second, my now life partner, my best friend, my wife who’s supported me in this life changing chapter over the last couple of years. Allowing me to believe in myself and chase my dreams no matter how wild.

Now, my business partner developer, who is helping GoodTake come to life and will hopefully help many more across the globe.
