Daily Inspiration: Meet Mike O’hara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike O’hara

Hi Mike, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for photography started in my high school photo class. The class taught the fundamentals and allowed me to really express my creativity. We used film cameras and did it all; loading and developing film, printing and processing photos in a dark dark room, etc. After high school, I attended Brooks Institue of Photography, but with an emphasis on film and television production. I still carried a passion for photography and continued to expand my knowledge on it. Fast forward to now, my niche has become landscape, travel, outdoor, adventure photography. I split my time between the oceans and mountains, capturing stunning images of the natural world that invoke curiosity, knowledge, and involvement. I continue to work in the television and film industry, working as a producer on documentaries, while balancing my photography business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been fairly smooth, but there are always ups and downs with owning and running a small business. You just have the ride the wave and push through.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer and producer that specializes in outdoor content. I’ve worked on an array of television documentaries over the past decade while running a photography business that focuses on fine art landscape photography, but goes beyond that to outdoor, adventure and travel photography. My photos envoke curriosity of the natural world. There’s a large portion of the population that doesn’t know you can drive 2-3 hours from Los Angeles and be among some of the tallest mountains in California, or some of the oldest living trees on earth. I always hope my photos push people to explore, preserve, and cherish the landscapes that surround us.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
