Daily Inspiration: Meet Michelle Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Allen.

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My sobriety date is December 7, 2020 — the most important date of my life. It’s the day I was reborn.

I was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California, into a wonderful family who taught me right from wrong. I grew up in the Catholic Church with a foundation of morals, dignity, and strong values. For much of my life, I believed happiness would come from checking the boxes — career, relationships, success — all the things I thought were supposed to make me happy. But even after achieving so many of those things, something inside me still felt lost and empty.

I kept searching for relief, eventually turning to substances that only pushed me further away from myself. When I finally surrendered in 2020, everything changed. My worldview shifted, and for the first time, I began doing the internal work — the kind that leads to real peace. Through that process, I discovered that happiness isn’t something we find outside of ourselves; it’s something we build from within.

Today, my purpose is to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and to help others do the same. The hard work of self-reflection and learning new tools has not only transformed me — it has made me uniquely qualified to help others transform, too.

As the Alumni Program Manager for Empower Health Group, I’ve found a career that gives my life meaning. Building and leading our alumni community isn’t just a job — it’s a lifestyle. It requires genuine care, compassion, and commitment to walking alongside others on their journey.

Empower Health Group is a national program with locations in California, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and New Jersey, offering authentic, customized treatment built on dignity, integrity, and compassion. Through our alumni program, clients stay connected long after treatment ends — finding fellowship, unity, and support one day at a time.

I’m grateful every day to work alongside some of the brightest and most caring minds in the field. From Sunday alumni meetings to Thursday Zoom check-ins — and from beach days to picnics and everything in between — I’ve witnessed the incredible power of community. The love we share for each individual goes beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.

My journey began in pain and surrender, but it has led me to purpose, connection, and joy. Today, I don’t just believe recovery is possible — I live it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely has not been a smooth road discovering itself is one of the hardest things to do, but being able to grow through that while working in my career helps me guide others to doing the same overcoming life’s obstacles and handling them in an emotional way is an ongoing process that keeps me engaged with life.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
