Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Mayo.
Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a psychic medium who has been developing my mediumship for the last 17 years. I have taught and worked all over the world. When I was just shy of 19, I stumbled into a metaphysical bookstore looking for a place to buy crystals and oracle cards. I had always been interested in spiritual things. When I walked inside, I met the owner of Awakenings Bookstore, Brandon, and after speaking with him, he asked me if I was interested in attending a demonstration of mediumship. He explained that it’s when a medium, someone who communicates with crossed-over loved ones, gives messages to people in the audience from deceased relatives and friends. Intrigued, I decided to attend.
There was about 60 people there that night and to my surprise, halfway through the demonstration, the medium came to me and told me I was a medium and that one day, I would be doing what he was doing. I was shocked because I had never had paranormal experiences in my life prior to this point, but on his advice, I decided to attend a mediumship development circle. This is a class that people attend weekly to develop their mediumship.
My first time there, I was asked to read another participant standing at the front of the room. Openmindedly, I began to describe what I was feeling. I felt a man connected to this lady named Jorge. I was given his relationship to the recipient as well as important dates, facts about his personality, how he passed, and information shared between the two of them. All of the information was accepted as accurate and true by the recipient. Surprised by the experience, I thought, “Wow, I guess that guy was right!”
The next week, I returned to the same development circle. When it was my turn to read, I got absolutely nothing. The next week, nothing, and the following week, nothing again. I knew that I could do this work but I needed to learn how to make it happen consistently. This began my 17 years journey and I am still developing to this very day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Because I was at such a young age when I was made aware that I was a medium, I still had growing up to do and living a normal life. Discovering myself and who I was in my early twenties really took me to and away from mediumship. The first 7 years of my development were largely testing if all of this was real. Sure, I had amazing spiritual experiences, but being a scientifically minded person, I always tried to reason and logic them away as some natural occurrence rather than it being from spirit. I was always seeking the Truth with a capital T. In the spiritual/new age world, there was/is a lot of bullshit and airy-fairy things that really don’t provide any real, evidential proof of a spiritual realm. It’s all basically dressed-up psychology with a spiritual twist. I needed more. I was met with a lot of judgment from the spiritual community because I needed evidence and proof and didn’t have “faith” that these things were real. Convincing myself that I wasn’t just making this all up was definitely a big journey. It wasn’t until years into my development that I had some profound experiences that led me to realize, there was no question that the spirit world is real and I think, more importantly, that my connection to the spirit world is real.

I am an evidential psychic medium and I have been doing this work for 17 years. I am known for a no-nonsense, evidence-based approach to my work. I also teach mediumship and psychic development through my online school The Oakbridge Institute. (oakbridgeinstitute.org) Through my online school, we offer weekly development circles, events and demonstrations, as well as courses that take students from the beginning of their development to becoming working mediums. My school has the reputation of developing accurate and specific evidence from its mediums while also instilling strong ethics in those who complete our courses. I am also the author of the book, Spirit Speaks: A Step-by-Step & Evidence-Based Approach to Genuine Spirit Communication. What sets me apart is that I am known for my accuracy and specificity in my spiritual work. I’m also known for being a very kind and supportive teacher of all things spiritual.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The characteristics that I feel are most important to my success are my passion for truth and integrity in all things that I do. It took me many years to land on a spiritual understanding that provided me the proof and evidence of an afterlife and a spiritual world. Because of my drive for truth, it has become my passion to help other people have their own personal experiences that help show them the reality of who they are; that they are spiritual beings having a human experience.
