Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Dean.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It’s kind of a funny story actually. I never thought of myself as an entertainer or a singer for that matter. I had a high school crush on a girl who was in choir and her brother talked me into joining the choir in order to get to know her. Long story short, I met her and fell in love with performing more. Years later, here I am still singing and entertaining groups for their events. The girl and I are still friends.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been smooth parts of the road. There have also been steep hills, narrow roads with cliffs right next to them, and icy downhill paths. The biggest thing I used to struggle with was worrying what I thought people would say about me or my services. For the most part, I made those up in my head. Once I got out of my own way, the road seems to be smooth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I offer premium entertainment for any occasion. From weddings to baby showers. Solo, Duo, full band performances as well as DJ services. I am proud of the contracts I have had with The Walt Disney Company, House of Blues, and some work I did for Vanderpump dogs. Holding myself accountable and taking complete ownership of every success and failure has allowed me to evolve at a rapid rate and stay above the bar I once set for myself. I just like to give clients an enjoyable and fun experience that they will remember for years to come.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I had to give my younger self advice when I was first starting out, I would tell myself to not worry about what other people think. That doesn’t mean you should not give the clients what they want. Deliver on your promises but don’t judge yourself too much. Each day is a new lesson and those lessons compound and eventually, you are miles ahead of where you first started.
