Daily Inspiration: Meet MC Bob

Today we’d like to introduce you to MC Bob.

MC BOB

Hi MC, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I remember freestyling since I was 5 years old. I wasn’t very good at it, but I had formed little lines; I guess I was building up the foundation for how I rap now. Around the age of 11, I had written my first ever song. In middle school I would perform these songs for my friends during passing periods or lunch. I would also do freestyles about whatever topics they would give me. Muscle has always been a thing for me, so it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly where I “started.” At the age of 13, I created my first official song “Never Surrender”. Horrible song, by the way. Not so much bad, just boring. Over the years, I’ve continued to perfect my craft. Creating songs from all types of genres and learning how to keep the listener engaged. When I turned 17, I created a song called “Enjoy Da Funk”. My friend recommended I try to create a song that falls into the “G-Funk” category, so I gave it a try. I remember it performed extremely well by my standards at the time, so I thought, “maybe I should do more music like this”. Once I graduated high school, I decided to take things a little more seriously. I dropped an EP known as “MC’S FUNK FEST,” which was extraordinary back in 2022. Since then, things have been going well for me, thank God. It’s been extremely difficult, but the reason I am where I am today is simply hard work. I’ve tried, and I’ve failed. I’ve failed, and I’ve learned. Practice makes perfect, and I have over 10,000 hours in training.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most certainly not; I’ve wanted to quit so many times. The bullying, the lack of results, the frustration, I’ve dealt with it all. After trying to be a rapper in high school, you can only imagine all the bullying I went through, yet it helped me grow a layer of tough skin and in a sense, prepare me for the criticism I receive today. In terms of lacking results, I just stopped whining like everyone else and actually did something about it. I figured it my weakest link and fixed it. In my case, it was poor marketing. You cannot just post a song and expect it to blow up. You have to market it and get it out there. People can’t like what they haven’t had a chance to hear. The frustration I experienced was mostly just due to lack of support. I’m a one-man team, but I’ve learned to keep it pushing. No matter what, it’s going to happen one way or another. No excuses; the show must go on.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist. I make music for the masses. No matter what race, ethnicity, age, or background you come from, I guarantee I have a song you will like. True versatility. That’s what I’m known for. The majority of my songs don’t have much in common, so it’s always something new with me. I am most proud of my unreleased music. I am set to drop Summer 2024. None of the songs sound the same and are so different in their respective aspects, yet the feedback I’ve received from fans has been amazing. I’m really excited to see how these songs perform. The reason I am not like other artists in this generation is because I am a true artist. Those who work with me or have had a conversation with me know what I mean. The ideas I create from scratch, the visions I bring to life, how I carry myself, the attention to detail. Whether I’m in the studio, photo shoot, or at an event, those who have seen can’t deny that they see something special. I appreciate those people with all my heart, and they know who they are. I want to be known as the artist who can do it all. The artist whose music reaches everyone, no matter who you are. I’m not just an artist but a lyricist. Just because I don’t do it, doesn’t mean I can’t. But the media will witness it soon. I say the biggest thing is all I’ve accomplished on my own and at the age of 19. Most artists have a hit song, get a team, and skyrocket. I’ve been consistent with my numbers on my own. The hustle is unmatched; that is what sets me apart.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love LA simply because it’s thriving with opportunities. It’s a place where people come in hopes of achieving their dreams. What seems impossible anywhere else is a few doors away in Los Angeles. The vibe is unmatched as well. I love the diversity and cultures embedded into the city. Also, who doesn’t love LA? It’s LA.
