Daily Inspiration: Meet Matthew Price

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Price

Hi Matthew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music and beats in my college dorm room in Irving, Texas. One day, I silently packed up my things so my roommate wouldn’t hear and drove straight to California—a 24-hour ride, three energy drinks, and two shooting stars later, I was in LA. At first, I slept in my car, then in Airbnbs, and eventually on couches until I landed my first apartment.

That’s when I met Jarette Romero, a fellow music collaborator. We locked in and started making music in hotel room 228, creating both of our projects. I felt like a touring artist, and I wanted to give that same feeling to other independent artists like myself. That’s when I decided to create Hotel 228 Studios.

Since then, I’ve established Hotel 228 Studio as an LLC, where I make my own music, collaborate with others, and professionally record artists. I’ve been in LA since 2017.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles have included sleeping in the parking lot of gyms like Planet Fitness just to take showers, working consecutive days with zero sleep to cover bills, and building countless relationships with friends and people that led to absolutely nothing. So far, LA has been an extremely dynamic place—I’ve experienced real highs and real lows.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in making music. I use instruments like guitars, synths, and drums to create infectious, luxury music! What I’m known for is giving people what they want—ENERGY!

I’m most proud of myself for believing in myself. You have to tune out a lot of noise when pursuing something as bold as making a career in music. What sets me apart from others is the relationship I have with myself. Everyone should know themselves to the core—when they do, their uniqueness becomes highly evident in an organic way.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The Bible is the book that helps me long the way for me personally. Mediation also helps me also!
