Daily Inspiration: Meet Maryon King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryon King

Hi MARYON , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Maryon King, I am emerging singer and songwriter. I was born in Calarasi, Moldova, raised in Padova, Italy and London, and now based full time in Los Angeles. My musical journey I guess has been anything but linear.

I first fell in love with music at the age of eleven when I saw Madonna performing “Hung Up” on MTV. My parents encouraged me to follow a more traditional, less-risky path, but i wasn’t into that . I spent my teen years sneaking out to singing lessons, without the knowledge of my parents, and learning to play guitar. At the age of 18, I moved to London to study languages but secretly switched my degree to music within a few months.
I immersed myself in the London music scene. Over the last 5 years, I’ve written in London, Los Angeles and Paris, working with The Stereotypes, Pam Sheyne, Aaron Forbes, Martin Luke Brow, Adj Buffon and Gez O’Connell and so many writers to find and perfect my pop sound. I am now based full time in LA working on my upcoming EP coming out in 2025.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think I’ve faced some struggles growing up. from convincing my parents that music was going to be my full time career to moving to London to pursue that dream and finally building my whole life in LA without connections in the music business when I first moved here in 2022.
I remind myself that the path to success is never really smooth and that rejection is just a part of it . I write songs on the daily and have a wonderful team that is helping get them across the line. I do have the tendency to get attached to some of them and sometimes it can be frustrating when it takes a long time to get them to come out. I am loving the journey though and grateful to be in the music industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist/singer/songwriter. I write pop/dance/disco music. Recently been writing some country too.
I’ve recently released a song with Steve Aoki I’m proud of because I wrote it with my best friend so that was a special moment.
I opened up for Jefferson Starship in San Francisco few weeks ago which I really loved too. I’m working on a whole EP I’m releasing in 2025 too!! Good times ahead!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me means fully mastering my craft in artistry and songwriting so that I can reach the goals I have right now.
Success is also finding a balance between work and time with family/friends. It’s so easy to get burnt out in music.
Success to me is also having top 10 records and selling arenas. That’s the goal.
