Daily Inspiration: Meet Marshion Nowden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marshion Nowden.

Marshion, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a creative with a fashion design background, I’ve always created my own fashions and abstract designs since the age of 12. I believe in creating sustainable fashion and finding solutions to Fashion Problems. I’m also a lover of protective hairstyles and wear ethnic head wraps often. I couldn’t find any stylish head wraps that were versatile without being overly traditional looking so I created the look I wanted and boom Secure Crown was born. Secure Crown head wraps also stay on your head more securely. Secure Crown is a Mindset, I believe if you secure your Crown which is your mind, thoughts, head, hair, you can achieve any goal.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth ride, but each challenge has been the push I needed to continue to take myself and company to the next level. Secure Crown is still a new company only in our third year and self-funded. We’ve went through numerous challenges such as funding, technology, re-branding, marketing, pandemic, you name it. Each challenge has helped us build character and strive to make the company better as a whole. I definitely make it a point to learn from the mistakes and challenges. Perseverance through the trials and tribulations of life gives me experience and makes me a smarter businesswoman.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Mother, Fashion Designer, Stylist, Educator, Artist, Published Model, and Actress. I specialize in women’s contemporary clothing, and I design all of the head wraps for Secure Crown. I am also an educator who has been teaching fashion design at a local college for the past five years, Professor of Fashion Design. I also make artwork and just completed an my first Art installation. I am a published model and working actress. Lastly, I’m CEO of Secure Crown. I’m blessed to be able to have so many talents, yes it’s a lot but I like to say “ they all go together” all my talent and hustles intertwine and I’m a great multi-tasker who believes in self-care so knowing when to rest is key.

How do you think about luck?
Luck hasn’t had a huge presence in my business. I believe I am a lucky person but it’s more so blessings, opportunities, and perseverance. The will from within to keep going. I believe in making connections and being at the right place at the right time while being prepared and equipped with a skill. Some people are lucky, some people work hard. I believe I am both so I can’t lose.
