Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Romano.
Hi Mario, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
M|R Walls started as an idea. Imagine if we could make large-scale 3d walls that could replace the need for tile or stone using Corian. After purchasing a CNC machine and incorporating algorithmic coding, my team and I realized we had pushed the boundaries of what it means to be an architectural product. Large-scale, non-repetitive, customizable 3d surfaces that can go indoors or outdoors, as well as being illuminated. That’s what me invented and patented right here in Venice and Santa Monica.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the obstacles along the way was marketing a new product. You can’t google search what you do not know about. In order to communicate our product to the industry and community we invested in photography, videos posting daily on every platform. We knew if people could only see our M|R Walls, they would respond reach out, and ask questions. That’s how we started the groundwork of our marketing, one great image at a time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our work at M|R Walls is specializing in high design impact, not just designing it, but actually making it, as well as be ending the installation logic. In order to do this, we had to engineer special design software that works specifically with CNC machine. A CNC machine is like a low-level 3d cutting robot. It’s only as good as the instructions. We also needed a high-level material, so we selected Corian solid surface from Dupont. This material is highly robust, can cut easily as well as being UV rated for exterior applications. Some of the top works we completed have been for Mercedes, Cedar Sinai Hospital, Google, Wynn, as well as numerous high-end residences.

A business-like M|R Walls isn’t just about the bottom line. It’s about the quality and vision of the product. The realization of making something original, beautiful, and of architectural scope and size isn’t easy. We love design and pushing the envelope of what an architectural product and surface can be.
