Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Graue.
Hi Marc, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Hollywood, CA. My Dada had a number of shows he hosted including news on KTLA so I grew up on the lot here with Bob Hope, Dinah Shore, etc. As a young man I decided that radio was where I wanted to be so started in Radio in Northern California, moved to Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and ended up in San Diego! I had a host of very politically incorrect characters I did as part of my show…audience loved it…management not so much but I always loved doing production and the production studio was a good place to hide from management. I honed my production skills and started contacting San Diego clients and built a small voice over business with dreams of coming back to LA! I got a job at Cherokee Recording Studios in Hollywood running their new Media Studio (producing primarily radio & TV spots). I hounded Warner Brothers Records to bring me their biz…and they brought me the radio spots for Van Halen’s first album.
That’s when thing really took off until Cherokee realized they could make more using the media studio for Vocals on big budget projects so they shut down the media studio, fired me and by some ridiculously amazing stroke of luck, SOLD ME all the studio gear that I proceeded to put in this awful guest house I was renting in East Hollywood and started my first Studio venture… It grew to the point I leased a Commercial building on the corner of North Gramercy Place and Hollywood Blvd, tripled in size, and move into the building in Burbank that I’ve had for the last 40 years with five studios and an ADR Stage plus I’ve sustained a great voice-over career as well receiving The Society Of Voice Arts & Sciences “Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 and lots of other accolades!!! I’ve been extremely fortunate!!!!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Negativity…..my own Father was probably the most vocal detractor until he came by the studios and Debbie Reynolds was there doing a project. All of a sudden I was legitimate!!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a voice actor, I’ve been fortunate enough to work consistently for almost fifty years as a voice on Disneyland’s-Disney Worlds Pirates Of The Caribbean Ride, lots of well-known cartoons and video games, as a narrator for Nat Geo”s Alaska State Trooper TV Show and Promo for Cartoon Network & Adult Swim plus ADR on movies like Warcraft, ZombieLand 2, etc.! And Marc Graue Recording Studios & Post has become a landmark on Burbank Blvd after almost 40 years!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
My voice work on the INFAMOUS Hotel Mario Video Game!
