Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilith Max
Hi Lilith, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off as a child actress in LA, going from audition to audition, trying to find my place in Hollywood. But during that time, I began learning more about music, and started taking singing lessons on the side. I used to write all sorts of stories and lyrics as a kid, and I slowly got back into the habit of writing as a teen. Before I knew it, music had ingrained itself into every grain of my existence and I realized that was where my real passions lie. From that day, I started teaching myself how to produce music and create a platform on social media. In the five years I have been making music, there were definitely some rough patches and uncertainties, but during 2024, it all paid off. I released my medieval-inspired song “Peasant’s Throne” and found myself in a community of fantasy-lovers, book readers, and creatives. Since then, I’ve been striving to create even more tales and stories to share with my listeners and fans. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me. I started my music journey right when the pandemic hit which meant I couldn’t test my skills on a stage nor go out to collect inspiration for music. It was suffocating.
But once the pandemic began lifting, I went back to working on my debut EP. Although that experience was quite amazing and exciting for a young artist like myself, it took quite a while before I could publish my music. And once I did, I had to make sure I promoted it properly on my platforms. But when you’re starting out in the industry, it is difficult to get your foot in the door. I was struggling to create engaging posts for my audience and I was constantly wondering if I would ever make it far enough with my talents. But those uncertainties didn’t keep me from continuing my path, and here I am today, still working hard to make my day-dreams become a reality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a filk musician/artist. “Filk” means fantasy/sci-fi folk music, so all my music has some sort of storytelling or whimsical element to it. I do all my songwriting and composing at my home studio in Houston, and travel out to LA to work with my producers on the tracks.
Most people know me from my song “Peasant’s Throne” a tale about a peasant who believes they are better fit for the throne than the king. Recently, I’ve gained a lot of traction for my song “Bears & Wolves” an anthem of empowerment for victims of SA and SH.
I’m most proud of my songwriting skills. There were times where I expressed worry about my singing or other talents, but never songwriting. I’ve always felt such freedom and ease when writing lyrics, and the fact that people enjoy what I say, brings me immense joy.
I think what sets me apart from others is my sense of humor. I like to incorporate “skits” into my social media videos and I think the strangeness of “talking to myself” in these videos can be entertaining for those who stumble upon my account. Though perhaps what really sets me apart is that I have bright copper hair, haha.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The first person that pops into my mind is my mom. For the last five years and even before, she has spent countless hours researching the acting and music industry, trying to figure out how to best help me in my careers. She drove me to every single acting and singing class, and learned to master the winding roads of LA to get me from point A to B. She has let me continue being a creative while she handles the hard behind-the-scenes work. I’m always so grateful for her and hope to one day pay her back for her support.
I’ll also always be grateful to every producer who has worked with me along the way. I’ve learned so much throughout the years and most of that learning happened in their studios.
