Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie Landy
Hi Lexie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in California by two immigrant parents from South America and three older siblings. I grew up in an Ecuadorian and Peruvian household where I was taught to love my culture and if you know anything about latinos they love their soccer.
With that being I played soccer on a team from the age of 8 to 16! I stopped playing soccer once I picked up wrestling towards the end of my junior year throughout my senior year in high school. I still kept up being active as it was all I knew. Fast forward to 2020 covid happened and the world stopped…as did I. I will admit it took me a long time to get back on my feet. I’d work out here and there but not as often. I did gain weight and that’s when I learned to love myself as I am. I always struggled with loving myself when I gained weight but this time it was different…I loved myself how I was and I think that’s also why I was so scared to workout again. I was scared that if I lost the weight again would I truly still love myself how I was in every form?
If you’re waiting on the answer…the answer is yes. My goal isn’t to lose weight and I feel like a lot of people see a fat person in the gym and think “oh they want to lose weight” which for some it might be true and there’s nothing wrong with that but for others it may be simply because they love to push their bodies to its limit. Our bodies could do incredible things! I was 16 years old flipping girls who weighed more than me with years of wrestling experience and pinning them. My body can do incredible things.
Fast forward to today I make content about being a curvy girl in the gym…why? Because we belong and deserve to take up space. I’ve been told many times that I should hide my body or just stop going to the gym because “no one wants to see that” and to them I say screw you. We’re damned if we do and we’re damned if we don’t. We have one life in this world so spend it doing what you want without caring about the negative things people have to say.
I used to be so intimidated to get back in the gym because I put on weight but seeing the comments and DMs from other women telling me I helped them get back in the gym or I helped them start being more active makes me so happy.
Now onto the fashion content. I found it SO HARD if nearly impossible to find clothing that flattered my body or just made me feel cute and comfortable. When I did find those cute pieces of clothes I wanted to share them so others didn’t have to go searching the web for hours on end to find it if I could simply just tell them where to find it. It’s all about the confidence. Once you wear something that you feel good in that confidence goes up and I wanted that for everyone and was so happy when I saw girls sending me photos in the items I recommended or being tagged in videos for try on hauls from a place I recommended. The smiles on their faces was and is everything to me.
I still continue to push out fashion and fitness content because I can hope I can positively impact more women this way,
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road! Growing up I’ve always been bullied about my weight. I would brush it off as one does and keep it moving although even some of the bullying came from family.
As I started content creation it certainly didn’t lighten up, if anything the hate comments grew. I’ve been told about every insult you can thank about fat people. I’ve had so many people doubt me about content creation and I’ve had people doubt me in my fitness goals as well sometimes it still gets me down but rather than let it take me down I let it fuel my fire.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently have three jobs which sounds insane and trust me it is! I currently am a full time product photographer for a shoe brand called Alegria. I am also a Tik Tok Affiliate Manager for a Latina owned activewear brand called DiosaFit. Last but not least I’m also a content creator! I have a love for all things creative/social media. I’m also currently working on being a personal trainer!
I would say what I’m most known for my curvy fashion and fitness content. What I’m most proud of it seeing the results of my posting. Women Dming me the dress they got because of me and telling me they haven’t felt this good in years. Dms telling I’ve helped them start working out again and they feel like they have more energy to play with their kids and the added booty pump it a plus, I’ve built a little community and I love it. I currently am in the process of being a certified personal trainer so I hope soon I can take on clients and make them feel strong and empowered.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has a little to do with my life. Luck in the sense that I was lucky enough to meet amazing people online. Some of my closest friends I’ve met through content creation and I couldn’t be more thankful for them, they have had such a positive impact on my life.
